The MX885, which I bought 3 years ago, then was ultimately quite well, he had always had problems with the ADF, but somehow went the "throttle required" automatically. Now my MX885 has unfortunately given up the ghost, so I bought the successor MX925.
I've only a few days, maybe I subscribe later times a more detailed review, here in advance once the main pros and cons:
+ Crisp typeface, much better than the last print with my MX885. I now do not know if the MX885 was simply poorly adjusted or whether it was not easy already "worn out" after the 3 years and very many print. Edit: As it turns out that it is up to the PGBK Cartridge: with the original Canon cartridge, the print image is razor sharp, with the replica cartridge of EzPrint the printed image is much worse, and the letters are "thicker" - I'll those buying at least as PGBK cartridge in the future of Canon.
+ Incoming fax program can now automatically print double-sided, which saves paper and the environment. Furthermore, you can now choose whether at low ink incoming fax transmissions are to be printed or not.
+ The drawer now holds 250 sheets. In MX885 there were only 150 sheets.
- Plastic again filigree than its predecessor, the feel is really not so good. Since it thus far had no problems, I do not want to incorporate that. However, it remains to be seen whether the new holding and 3 years ...
- No more second paper tray. I do not often use it, but every now and then.
- The previous model it was to forward incoming faxes and fax reports were not printed when the black PGBK cartridge was almost empty. When new incoming faxes and fax reports are also not printed out if any of the ink cartridges is empty. Since the incoming faxes and the reports are printed only in black ink, which is utter nonsense. The report is then in any case almost never printed because one of the five cartridges is always almost empty. Probably Canon wants the customer thereby only to bring to replace the cartridge even earlier and to earn even more with the already absurd overpriced ink. But I prefer from 1 star.
- Scanning software. And that has caused me to withdraw from (at least once) 2 stars. The MP Navigator from the old MX885 was easy to use. The IJ Scan Utility is a massive step backwards, for scanning I need now at least three times as long as before, the utility has far fewer features than the MP Navigator. The MP Navigator I could scan multipage documents, edit, cut, take out individual pages and then save everything as a multipage PDF document, in the easiest way. With the IJ Scan Utility that all goes not. Am extremely disappointed that software is junk ...
- So, and a point deduction there's now for the fact that the printer does not have an ad-hoc Wi-Fi can be connected directly to a computer. I have in my showroom any PC system, but always take my laptop with there. So far I had there a 5 year old With Cheap multifunction printer from Lexmark are there, I have connected via ad hoc with the notebook. Unfortunately, the Lexmark now has given up the ghost. Having stayed had a MX925 in my home office, I thought, I can do for the showroom to even a second, so I can use the same cartridge for simplicity. Only the MX925 can not ad-hoc. Well, who would have thought?
