The predominantly English-speaking reviews on the web praise one hand, the X100T to the skies and at the same time like to ride on the weaker performance of the unchanged now for three generations camera lens 2.0 / 23 around. I can not confirm that. The fact is, and Fujifilm has this been communicated openly with the launch of the X100, the X100-optics in extreme close range should be dimmed between close range and half meters for tack-sharp images. What the hell - each of schonmal a macro lens at full aperture in the vicinity used does know that it is the depth of field is extremely thin and is either voluntarily dim or exploit the blurring effect creative. Can the X100T also; with the proviso that the naturally thin core focus area is nunmal not reproduced as concise as sharp as a short-range corrected (macro) lens. My gimmicks on the Fujifilm booth at Photokina 2014 in this regard had shown nothing that I will not accept or had not been acceptable to me. With today's sighting shots to portrait distance at maximum aperture f / 2 was then finally clear that the appearance of the X100T not need to hide behind what I'm used to XF18 and XF18-55 at the X-T1.
Thus the gap between XF18 and XF35 would optimally filled for me. The sharpness of the functional unit lens camera confident around me and the bokeh leaves, left for a WW-focal length, nothing to be desired.
Compared to X-T1 I notice that the JPEG engine produces slightly different results with the same motives and the same settings. For the preferred me Provia film simulation (STD) I have set the following Verabeitungsparameter:
X100T: WB car with R + 1 and B-1; +1 Color, sharpness +1, H -1, S 0, NR -2, -1/3 exposure compensation
X-T1: WB-Car with R + 2 and B-1; Color 0 Sharpness 0, H-1, S 0, NR -2, exposure compensation 0
This means that both cameras produce almost identical results so that JPEG is enough for me and RAW processing is necessary only in exceptional cases.
When Autofocus performance, I see no difference between X-T1 and X100T, was not to be expected due to the technology equality.
What I do not like the X100T:
- Leathering with low grip, pretty but too smooth
- In Autofocus mode can be half-pressed shutter button while _not_ manually correct; with the X-T1 is the since firmware 3.0
- The characteristics of the multi-field exposure control works somewhat differently than in X-T1 and is prone to over-exposure; a correction of -1/3 is often advisable.
- The built-in flash works unfortunately only if the closure on "MS" stands, the X-T1 can with their supplied flash under "MS + ES"
- The optical viewfinder is not very bright That may be instrumental in bright sun, indoors it is a hindrance, and cries out for the electronic viewfinder.
- No folding / swivel screen, no touch screen and thus not touch AF function (since the Samsung NX300M I know how something can be useful especially for WW)
- Via the supplied RAW software you covered better lovingly the cloak of silence
Use not support SDHC UHS-II technology, I recommend UHS-I memory cards with at least 85 MB / s write performance - (!)
What I like about the X100T (silver):
- The lens is pretty sharp even at maximum aperture and shows beautiful bokeh
- Discreet, unobtrusive, quiet, contact promoting (sexiest camera alive!)
- It provides me not only the deliberate 35mm equivalent perspective, it combines a high-performance optics with a camera unit which can compete with the System Camera siblings
- Viewfinder with good clarity for Gleitsichtbrillenträger; significantly better than X-E2, slightly worse than X-T1
- Almost all everyday important functions are available and can be quickly accessed via configurable Q Menu
- Facial recognition as X-T1
- Quality of the JPEG engine to none; Display quality is sufficient for subsequent in-camera RAW processing
- A solid piece of camera, you can feel the attention to detail (when only the slippery leather trim would not!)
On the Relationship Value for money: Of course, the X100T expensive! Remember that for example a Samsung NX300M together 18-55 Zoom and 2.0 / 30 lenses only costs half. What can I say, one must also be prepared something irrational and "perfect" OOC JPEGs want to invest in Fuji's X-Something. I plead guilty, I chose it specifically as an alternative to unpopular XF1,4 / 23 lens, waive one stop light intensity and win a full-fledged camera with optical viewfinder.
