I was disappointed in view of the very good reviews from the book. In the first 2/3 of the book, the plot (extremely) developed tough, it happens little, at this stage, the book is not a thriller but primarily a study of social life in a working class district in Dublin. Only towards the end does the action then ride on, and then the book is too quickly, before major storylines are (apart from the killings) elucidated. This is very disappointing, because you have really 'befriended' up to this point with Francis and his ex-wife, daughter, family, etc., in fact never the reader learns but what happens / at the end remains. Conclusion: well written, weak plot with weak end (you get the feeling, the book ends before 50 or 100 pages it's finished).
