Charles Schulz invented the modern comic strip by creating the first (and to date the only) benevolent character, which is partly due to his professional conscience. Charles Schulz drew Charlie Brown surely many times that he signed his own name. Throughout the 17,000 strips that have been read by hundreds of millions, the designer has refined, developed and codified the figures of his imagination to the point that they have become an extension of himself, writing that literally confused with Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy and Snoopy. And if other designers can claim to have worked as hard, none has ever put in his characters as much of himself and of his own heart: the last year of his life Charles Schulz could talk about without getting Charlie Brown crying. Perhaps the only person who was concerned about Charlie Brown more than all the others, it was Charles Schulz himself.
In Peanuts 1955-1956 Charles Schulz has indeed reached after a half decade its stride. This is a period of consolidation which welcomes any new character (the ephemeral Charlotte Braun is even fired) but sees the other nine settle comfortably into the roles and personalities that will make their glory. Snoopy made a great leap in the gentle eccentricity we know it, initiating a long series of imitations ... Its cover security well in hand, Linus learns to speak and no longer has to suffer in silence the insults of his sister. "Pig-Pen" develops its philosophy of dirt, crush Lucy for Schroeder becomes unshakable and Charlie Brown is seen for the first time removed a baseball game, private kite and fooled by the Lucy when drawing a ball! Even the most ardent fans of Peanuts discover many 'new' episodes because more than half of the volume of strips were never published collection since their publication in the press, there is half a century!
