Against the Canon 35mm f / 1.4, I decided once I saw the price. Almost 1300 Euros for a normal focal length? No thanks! The Canon 35mm f / 2 IS, the EX and the way I looked then at the merchants more closely. Of course I took my DSLR with, unscrewed all three lenses according to another plan and made test shots. Autofocus was sitting in all three at once. Initially, I liked the stability of the Canon 35mm f / 2 IS very good, but then I realized that he, not brought in people like any other motive that moves. The 1 additional aperture in the sigmoid colon was found to be considerably more useful. Not only that you can expose shorter with the same ISO level and thus make a clearer photo, you can also better indemnify, which is very important in portraits. So I just had to decide between the two sigmoid colon, but only wanted to look at the test shots at home more precise and a night sleep over it. On the 27 "monitor the matter was soon clear. The 30mm f / 1.4 ART was over the whole aperture range significantly sharper, both at the center and at the edges, as the EX. Vignetting made itself at ART significantly less noticeable. As for CAs seemed both Sigma and not much to take the Canon IS 35/2. From Bokeh ago me the style also liked best, which is of course a matter of taste.
All in all, the 30mm f / 1.4 type the roundest in my eye lens of 30mm or 35mm all fixed focal lengths. It is brighter and therefore more versatile than the Canon 35mm f / 2 IS (both with respect to high ISO and bokeh), while even cheaper. It is more expensive than its predecessor, yet this clearly superior to the 30mm f / 1.4 EX, regarding image quality.
Anyone who like me spend no 1300 Euros for a single lens, but top quality (processing as well as image quality) would have to be reasonable prices, the Sigma 30mm f / 1.4 ART should be a closer look!
