This unit has the same case on a whole range of features, here the following, which were important for me:
- Be accessed via the Internet
- App for Android and iPhone
- Alarm function with email notification
- Rotating and swiveling
- IR Night Vision
I can safely say that all the features are well met by the camera, and the whole at an unbeatable price performance ratio. The picture quality is okay, even the IR night vision headlamps and the alarm function do their duty. However, one must establish that the cam is set up so far it only once.
So will the enclosed tool BSearch_en.exe the Cam not automatically unless you Windows 7 64 operates, but I could read the nowhere. It took me a few gray hairs until I two computers with Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium have changed for testing purposes on a 32-bit Windows 7, and lo and behold: The device was found immediately. Missed the first impressions of the manual but you do not need this program, the web interface is sufficient.
That being said, I find it a little awkward that the Cam is delivered from the factory with a fixed IP (192.168.0.178). Consequently, also performs a reset to factory settings to a different conclusion. My router has the base IP 192.168.1.1, therefore a different address space. It was here at my first networking device for which I had to adjust my router temporarily. It is usual for network devices actually the default setting of the address reference via DHCP, which should be suitable for most routers. The switch from DHCP to a fixed IP is much easier than vice versa. The assignment of a fixed IP as a standard I experienced as unhelpful.
After the rough setting was done, I got down to changing the admin password, which is required for security reasons, especially for Internet access. And there awaited me the next surprise: The Cam accepted the changed password is not then.
The reason I eventually figured out by trial and error: The camera will only accept passwords with a maximum length of 12 characters, but it does not display. Longer passwords are accepted with no error messages, it is not expected, but only 12 characters used. If you log in as admin then with a lengthy password that Cam rejects logically from access. After I had logged only the first 12 characters of my password, the login is successful. But it is necessary to come only once.
Positive would be the low power consumption to mention. In Manual I have to find any information, so I measured the consumption itself. The cam is in standby mode (ie without direct access) to 1.8 watts, with access and occasional motor control to 2.1 watts. I think that you can live very well.
For those interested, an Android app IP Cam Viewer Basic was used. This app contains all possible cam driver (if one can call it that), and recognizes the right to request automatically.
Positives:
- Unbeaten price-performance ratio
- Extensive function facilities
- Comprehensive and professional-looking web interface
- Low power consumption
Negatives:
- Bumpy facility
- Halfheartedly makeshift client software (except the web interface)
Conclusion:
With a little sweat and try to get a good device for a little money. Had the manufacturer more care in the software and the device used, I would have awarded full marks.
Update:
I bought a second cam and had to fight there with another problem. The device could not be persuaded to join a wireless network. The scan the web interface did not recognize a single SSID, the list was always empty. The problem was solved here a reset to factory settings. So at this point my tip: Before serious start to just suggest that hard reset.
Update:
It is important that the wireless router through which the cam is operated, no sparks through the channels 12 and 13. Otherwise, the Cam does not answer to the WLAN, although it looks like. It then comes no error message, the LED blinks, as if everything was ok, but the Cam not appear on the network.
