Underline the 28 titles of this Tribute double album, which the "Musik Express" recently summed up, namely that "no German songwriter was so woefully ignored, as Nils Koppruch".
Sure Franz Dobler is right when he suspects in his foreword to the album, it would Nils Koppruch "probably liked the most that the bands and artists from various corners played the pieces, as they please, suits them or them possible is. " And yet, the more I hear the tribute songs, the more I realize Nils Koppruchs outstanding musical competence. Although I appreciate the artists gathered here and many also possess one or the other album, I think that hardly reaches as a cover to the original ... and what could be claimed solo activities nicer from Fink'schen oeuvre and Koppruchs?
Succeeded, I found Torpus & The Art Directors poppy number of "If you are looking for me," and the atmospheric "Maybe" by Bernadette La Hengst. But Nicolai von Schweder Joiner & Dinesh Ketelsen, Oliver Stangl, Niels Frevert or Wiglaf Droste catch the mood of the songs an elegant without copying only. Kindred Spirits is Gisbert von Knyphausen probably impossible to spoil a Koppruch song, both the opener (with the Kid-Kopphausen band) as well as its "transit" are great class. And as comfortable as "The highest railway" (Moritz Krämer & Francesco Wilking) the "Man without pain" promoted, they would rumble in my personal favorites very far forward when there not been her fantastic debut "Look down the barrel , Hase "long would ...
However, a few musicians and bands lose the songs in which they only impress them left their mark. Make Kettcar example, "Caruso", what they do with every song. Comparing the result with the so lovingly arranged template, unfortunately there is not much left (as the typical, all suffocating Kettcar sound). And when you experience Knarf Rellöms pumping "knife fight", one understands only what was for a gifted interpreter of his own texts Nils Koppruch. In Pascal Fuhlbrügges version of "Take off your shirt, Moses!" I miss the original groove. The strange, nasal vocals and electronic beats to miss the fact that rousing song a contradictory, lifeless Atari 2600 charm.
For me, "Tribute to Nils Koppruch & Fink" is therefore a mixed album with many mediocre, some beautiful and few unsuccessful memories of Nils' inventiveness and virtuosity. Overall, however, outweighs the positive impression.
"I saw the hole in the world.
I looked inside.
Now I know where they turn on the day
and who chewed the hours.
I saw the hole in the world. "
Maybe yes learn one or the other in this way Nils Koppruch posthumously know and love.
