Benefits:
* Pleasant, absolutely living room-compatible, warm white light. In my experience - in addition to the 12 Watt version - the only bright LED lamp that creates a feel-good light.
* High Brightness: replaced at the beginning of the life cycle of my subjective impression to an ordinary 100 watt light bulb and will go towards the end of the life cycle in the direction of 75 watt bulb
* Radiates light from all around, including the rear or above. This softer shade than most other LED bulbs, whose light has more spot-character
* Dimmable
Disadvantage:
* The price (60 euros, Stand 23.3.2012) is completely covered in my view. I hope that other manufacturers bring an LED lamp with comparable light on the market so that prices fall. I would keep 25 Euro for this lamp is justified.
* Hums the dimming light.
* Made in China. Too bad that well-known manufacturers in the Far East can produce. I would appreciate it very much if the production would take place here in Europe, to get our jobs. LEDON is a positive exception. (Correction 18.5.2012: also LEDON lamps are assembled in China only the LED modules in Jennersdorf (Austria) See comment made by Mr. Fend...)
The design is a matter of taste. I personally like the futuristic design very well. The orange lamp induced to look when the lamp is turned off.
The heatsink is very hot during operation, so that it is no longer attack with bare hands. I think if you just a little dims the lamp, the rated life of 25,000 hours is (then gives the lamp is still as much light as a 75 watt bulb from) be exceeded.
I also like the honest communication. Although the lamp at the beginning of the life cycle rather gives the light a 100 watt light bulb, Philips compares it with a 75 watt lamp. Many other manufacturers exaggerate in this respect.

Addendum on 9.11.2012
Now is also from Osram comparable from the luminosity LED lamp on the market here. This has led me to a comparison of different light bulbs.
Candidates:
1) Philips Master LED 17 Watt
2) Osram Superstar A75 14.5 Watt
3) Osram compact fluorescent lamp 24 Watt 2700K
4) Philips Classictone bulb 100 Watt
Ad 1) Feel-good light. Of all the candidates (including the lamp) for me the light in which I feel most comfortable. From the light intensity subjectively identical to the 100 watt bulb.
Ad 2) No feel-good light. Creates not the well-being of the Philips Master LED. Nevertheless, more pleasant than the light of compact fluorescent lamp. Has neutral. Very good for kitchen or office.
Ad 3) No feel-good light. While warm white, but somehow pale and uncomfortable. Perhaps a trace brighter than the other lamps.
Ad 4) No feel-good light. The light of this lamp - although bulb - has a greenish tint. Perhaps it is because of the coating of this light, I do not know, but I find the light in a direct comparison with the Master LED uncomfortable. I would lamp LED light bulb prefer clearly. That surprised myself.
Conclusion: This LED lamp is Philips succeeded in creating a feel-good light that surpasses even the "good old" incandescent lamp (undimmed). No other LED lamp that I know (except the 12 Watt LED Master), comes close to the Master LED in this regard. Is my subjective impression.
I have to say that I've tested without lampshade.
