After a long series of comparisons (Panasonic, LG, Samsung, etc.) I finally landed at Sony because uA each of the outstanding image quality gushed. I had to admit, the image quality was not really convinced me in MM, however, convinced me there any - but I wanted to give him a chance! :)
The package includes:
- The LED TV
- Solid base
- Power Cable + 2 remotes
- 4 Glasses (passive 3D - ie without batteries - no shutter technique)
Workmanship:
The brushed the edge, and the little turquoise strip, the illuminated SONY logo and on the solid base provide a very high-quality impression. From a non-reflective display unfortunately I can not speak, but the reflection is far more tolerable than a comparable plasma (without AR coating) or LG (reflected very strong for my taste).
The larger "main" remote control seems very plastic, for the size of it is very easy, but I miss the function between 2 channels toggle.
The smaller remote control (with the NFC chip), however, is very high, it represents the most important functions (volume, switching, source, switchable extended numeric keypad, etc.) and is very comfortable to hold.
Image Quality:
Anticipation - the picture will download itself under Defaults an excellent image as long as the resolution is at least 720p. With the SD image has the television, in my eyes, so its difficulties, I have tried many different ones advertised in forums, image settings, however, was no really convincing result, the image appears here either blurred or overdriven / improved. The image is continuously adjusted here, so it looks at a moment of orderly sharp, washed again in the next, it must be constantly adjusted. Motion blur can also perceive, but it has its limits. The black level goes into more gray / blue / purple, which can, however, regulate with minimizing the backlight something. In black image differently lit areas can be discerned, but hardly noticeable during normal TV viewing. The many adjustment possibilities are exemplary.
The 3D experience is felt slightly worse than with active 3D, but still very good and less exhausting / strain on the eyes. The viewing angle is the LED more pronounced than in a plasma if you "high looks" to the TV, the black is noticeably worse, so bright. The picture I found on the whole with my LG plasma better, I'll probably have to change to HD programming ...
The dual-channel function is, moreover, simply brilliant! - 2 players are playing with full screen - SUPER !!! :)
Sound Quality:
The built-in speakers are more than adequate, a decent note to bass one can perceive - for TV speakers on quite look good sound.
Functionality:
At first I was excited, I could start my PS3 (via the selection of the corresponding thereto HDMI input) and help yourself, then the same thing with my Panasonic home theater system and ARC also works (was not the case with the LG).
For WiFi - I was greeted by 10 to 30 minutes thrown after a regular time from the wireless network, should I say had no Internet connection, and a connection to my home server more, although I am successfully connected, according to the settings of the home network, via cable connection everything went smoothly - so switch from TP Link 1043 to a Nitgear Nighthawk, since everything runs smoothly.
Streaming - a small change to my DiskStation 413j and everything is perfectly reproduced on the television.
For all those who might have a similar problem: The official media server transcodes in an unsupported format, minidlna works perfectly, with the Plex Media Server you can also play just about anything, but the scrolling is a true test of patience.
Now for the NFC - one puts his cell phone or not connected with NFC on the back of the small remote control - even the image of the phone should appear on the TV - So much for theory. It does not work with the HTC One and the LG G2, according to research, it works well only with a few Sony Xperia devices.
Nevertheless, one can media via DLNA and WiFi Direct streaming to the TV but only the media, does not provide full screen.
The media playback via USB I have not been tested.
Otherwise, the TV responds very quickly and reliably, the software has not been greased since purchase (2 weeks ago).
Adding should consider an extended warranty into consideration, as there is only 1 year warranty for Sony TV in general.
I must confess I'm a very stingy man when it comes to technology. Certainly this review is a nagging at the highest level, but I think that the TV money is all worth it - that's why there is a strong buy recommendation from me - if you can live with the limitations)
