I concentrate in my review on the things that struck me negatively. The positive things that have already been described sufficiently by other users, I nevertheless share - and precisely these were the ones who have moved me to buy the Weather Station.

I have read some reviews ... some overflown ... overall statistics (5 Stars) spoke for itself and had then slammed (despite the high price). What I had, however, not registered: such as "treated" the weather station their data. In addition, I am skeptical with regard to the life of the external module.

A. "Data Handling"
When installing the indoor sensor (large tube) must be connected to a PC or smartphone. By that I had expected, as these sensors have to be so involved in my home network and one for requires a user interface. What I noticed was doing but that you Bereis in setting up a procedure requires Internet access (certainly no longer uncommon). Surprised me was then also that you have to create an account with Netatmo what but rather just walked by equip.

And are not from the weather station itself is stored (and probably can not be saved) - after completing the installation and start-up, I realized that the data which are measured by the sensors are transmitted to the Internet - namely Netatmo. The inclusion in my home network so only serves to enable the weather station transmitting the data to the Internet. This surprised me and I feel as negativ.Auf the website of Netatmo is well aware that Internet access is a prerequisite. This I had not assumed for continuous operation, but to allow updates (in terms my understanding: I am running in my network a server, printer, IP-Cam, several laptops, smartphones, tablets).

Why bother me?
1. I need an internet connection necessarily to the weather station to operate at all. I have this not - for example, in my holiday home, caravan, cottage, etc., then I can not operate the station.

2. When the server of Netatmo, on which the data resides, can not be reached, then I can not access my data ... the weather station in the case shut.

3. If Netatmo goes bust (and that's by no means be ruled out in a startup company like Netatmo) and thus sets the business, then all of the hardware is useless and only serve for decoration. That would be like: I buy a car, and in the moment in which the company is broke, my car does not drive.

With a 5 Euro article would not bother me, but at 170 euros already.

Many users do not like disturbing because they come easily and without any special network knowledge to their weather data - even on the move. The data cloud of Netatmo makes this possible. This way I would have liked to have seen as an alternative and not as a mandatory requirement.

By that I mean concretely: Netatmo should provide for the storage of data in the weather station directly - simply install a memory. The Wetterstaion is integrated into the home network. The app will be installed on the smartphone. And within the network do I retrieve the data - regardless of an Internet connection. Should you want it, to an account aimed at Netatmo, and then transmits the data over the Internet to their account and can access it anywhere using their smartphone. Then the story would be about.

B. Outdoor unit
Only the long-term test will tell if the outdoor unit a ganzjähigen use in protected outdoor area really is.
The footprint of the sensor is made of plastic. Here is the closure of the batteries - as well as for devices with battery compartment for indoor use. But whether this is sufficient to permanently protect the electronics in the housing against the weather-related moisture, remains to wait. I am skeptical.

C. Conclusion
1. Since the station may only be operated with an Internet connection, I draw from only 2 stars here. This Abhäbgigkeit I really feel as a real drawback and would actually lead to more deduction.

2. The value of the external module I would also deduct 1 star - but leave this for now, since I have not had any negative experience.

3. I do not subtract more stars because the weather station would have only 2 stars otherwise and that would be the turn not just because it is a good product anyway. Despite the empfundenden me negative points the station offers exactly what I gewüscht me: temperature measurement in the indoor and outdoor use with sensors and retrieve the data via an app.

Therefore 3 stars!
