Anyway, I wanted to know whether the Brita finished product delivers what it promises. I bought a set and measured Kalkmess funny drauflos:
Tap water (from the tap): about 10 ° dH (the higher, the worse). To "7 ° dH" water is considered SOFT, from "21 ° dH" as HART.
-My Stadtwerke say it would be 8.9 ° dH - so we expect times to an accuracy of about a degree of hardness of my measurement.
Immediately after the first filling, the hardness of the exiting water no longer measurable (0 ° dH).
After filling 20x water hardness of about 3 ° dH is flowed out of the part.
After (total) 26x filling the hardness increases to about 5 ° dH. Now is definitely the time for change has come.
1. Tip: The display on the pot only measures the elapsed time (after cartridge change), not the actual "consumption" of the filter. I seem to have seen that there is also a variant, which include the opening of the lid, thus closing the filter consumption. In my consumption agrees with this indicator: if the hardness to "3" has increased, a filter change is displayed.
2. Tip: The filter coffee machine manufacturers are not cheap and can also very quickly in their filter effect.

5. Tip: If your machine can be decalcified with citric acid (! Necessarily clarify before), which is the cheapest and healthiest solution - citric acid is used in soft drinks and is non-toxic, which can not be said of all other resources. Note: I have consciously limited myself to the decalcification. Also, one should defer changing the cartridge is not too long for reasons of hygiene (so probably also the 30 day timer) ...
