This device me the good stereo sound, the very strong DAB + receiver and the playback control of MP3 files on a USB flash drive have particularly liked.
Here the most important in my view, advantages in detail:
+ Stylish and modern design - unfortunately only with plastic housing.
+ Intuitive operation. A printed manual is for the "Emergency" at.
+ Good stereo sound - but only when reception is good.
+ Very good reception of DAB +: The Boombox I had - in comparison to other devices - a significantly better reception of DAB stations, and stations in disadvantaged areas. The necessary and actual signal strength confirms this. The FM sound with RDS station identification is by the way also excellent.
+ Playback control of audio and MP3-CDs and MP3 files via the integrated USB port (Note: A connection using a USB cable directly to the PC is not possible).
+ Aux-In to other devices (I z. B. an Internet radio adapter used) must be connected.
+ Powered via mains adapter or batteries possible.
+ Real-off switch - today no longer so obvious.
But there are also a few drawbacks:
- For mobile operation are 8 Baby batteries required (!). The basis weight of 1,800 grams increased thereby again by more than 500 grams. This should be observed for an outdoor use.
- Fixed Station keys one seeks in vain unfortunately. Instead, the stations are selected using the PRESET and forward and rewind buttons. A bit more comfort I would have liked here.
Conclusion:
The Boombox is still a recommendable stereo radio with digital option for the future and many application and playback options.
Even a short addendum to DAB +:
At this year's Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) in Berlin, the digital radio was (again) a key issue by manufacturers and program makers. There is a renewed attempt to make the digital radio more popular and increase the spread. Actually, should in fact be already off 2015, the analog radio. It is now for the time being nothing and it remains to be seen whether DAB + will prevail across the board. Here the advantages convince also the skeptics: fixed frequencies for each program throughout the entire range, and noise-free and stable reception. DAB + is not yet anywhere - to receive - particularly inside buildings. A current program overview with reception forecast there is the project office Digital Radio (digitalradio.de).
