Here's my impression of satisfied after eight months:
+ High-quality, plastic-coated aluminum housing (lightweight, textured magnesium finish)
+ Prism finder, ie no age-related yellowing as in the conventional plastic seekers
+ Useful lenses with wide focal length range: 18-50mm for interior / Portraits, 50-200mm for outdoor use (considered to be the most compact in its class Tele)
+ Remarkable in this price class: splash-proof, including the lenses (WR, white rings).
+ Already very fair price but 80 cashback (!!!) really ingenious price / performance ratio (had less cashback 600 paid)
+ Very good automatic mode, quickly available programs (Portrait, Children, animals, landscapes, etc.) and highly customizable, semi-manual modes (aperture / shutter speed, ISO code)
= Noise starts at about ISO1600, ISO3200, but it is very noticeable. Better ISO limit, increase the shutter speed, aperture and zoom using flash.
= Do I need eh no but: Video function without tracking AF and only with mono sound (not via external microphone can be retrofitted).
= In Photo courses to the exotic - so better bring your manual ... very few coaches know all the details of a Pentax camera ... and Ricoh Pentax has not yet managed to provide device-specific courses.
= There is no battery grip for the K-50 ... who needs something (more battery power, better handling when heavy lenses) must K-3 / K-5th
- Kit lenses are supplied without lens hoods (are handy even when rain rule as protection against water droplets)
Conclusion: With prices between 650 and 700 for the kit you can not complain. The camera is of high quality, makes great photos and is due to processing / seals as "Dreckfresser" for all occasions.
Addendum: I now switched to the "big sister", the K-3 and use these with a Pentax 18-135 WR lens. Slightly better noise performance, more megapixels for cropping, no price / Leistungstip as the K-50th : D
