I start with the exterior:
The case makes me a fairly stable impression. Only the display lid gives way in the middle of something. Here it makes sense to therefore to choose a bag that has a padded compartment to the PC. The unit is not running in high gloss. This results when taking it out of the bag no ugly fingerprints. The keyboard is very good. You little springs and is writing a good feedback. However, if one of a normal keyboard to this umsteigt, it takes a while until the position of the keys "Page Up, Page Down, delete, insert, Pos1 and End" has internalized. Who has much to do with numbers, will appreciate the Numblock. On smooth surfaces, the rubber feet to prevent slipping of the device successfully. You have to push quite firmly to move the laptop on a wooden table.
In my application profile and the energy settings from me the battery lasts about 3 hours if you continuously writes to the device, while the permanently connected via WiFi and retrieves parallel on the Internet / Intranet data or surfing. I chatted alone today in battery mode (Windows power plan to "Balanced") of 3 hours ago via ICQ and WLAN and the battery was then charged nor to 26%.
In me further customized "sleep mode" the battery lasts about four hours. When offered the performance of the system in my opinion is fully in order.
The touchpad responded yet always reliable and the multi-touch gestures are hugely enjoyable. But for longer working I soft he prefers to my wireless mouse, which is always in your pocket.
Which brings us to the next point: The performance. Processor side can recognize this device no reason to complain of me. Windows 7 in the 64-bit version (pre-installed) behaves not sluggish. Sämstliche commands and entries will be implemented without delay. And considering my old PC, the hard drive performance is quite alright. Only the graphics unit is very inefficient. StarCraft 2 runs on lowest settings still halfway liquid, RUSE, however, forces the device to its knees. The fan in RUSE is not the highest speed turns suggests that the memory of the graphics unit is no longer simply bear. But to play the instrument was not intended.
The noise: The fan does not regulate smoothly. As long as the device is, however, not very heavily loaded, the fan remains off and jumps usually only for a few seconds. If he runs he does so at his desk, although audible, but not annoying. In the lecture hall / at the university the noise then goes under the murmur of voices. Charged to the CPU and the stronger over a longer period, the speed of the fan increases in two further steps to. This ensures that even after hours of playing the instrument remains cool on top and bottom. The surface in the area around the keyboard is in places maxmimal lukewarm. Unfortunately, the hard drive in operation produces a permanent noise, but only aufällt when off or on.
All in all a very good device, with everything you could need in the study: Integrated WLAN, Built-in microphone, built-in webcam. Only the Bluetooth module is not installed. Unfortunately, the button for it has no function. But this can be retrofitted with original parts.
The power pack is pleasantly small and the laptop will be held on the weekend in my Messager Bag incl. Power supply, wireless mouse, books and other Unikram loose space. The display can also be used to watch the odd film, there are certainly devices with better displays, but then mirrored (which is not the case here). The brightness is very good. My attitude is at 50%. The order is sufficient to see all previous light enough.
3x USB, even VGA, analog sound (input and output) via jack and Digital Optical via an adapter, and a network connection with Gigabit can be found on the device. Sufficient for the work on the train or the university. The DVD drive works on average, but so far there have hardly been used.
Five stars from me. The device is ideally suited for my application profile (mainly Internet, music playback via surround receiver, office work and communication via Chatpogrammen, home and away). What does the student more?
