The two test candidates play priced about in the same league - the Sennheiser booth is now just under 10 euros cheaper. At Sennheiser is an open design, the AKG is closed. Despite or perhaps because I wanted to test both versions on electric piano. For me, it was at first completely open, which will come out in this Test.
Both headphones are sonically excellent response to positive reviews. In detail, however, identify significant differences, which is probably mainly due to the different construction. When AKG bass sound a little depressed. At Sennheiser, the heights are somewhat stronger. Both headphones do sound but on the stereo system a very great impression, with my feeling of Sennheiser has a nicer sound. When electric piano at first I was torn, but eventually was but the AKG the clear favorite. During the Sennheiser sounds therefore came rather blurred, the sounds while AKG were very clear and listened to more like a real piano.
When AKG disturbing ambient noise (eg simultaneously running TV) hardly, and also in the same room's family members are not disturbed by my piano exercises. The Sennheiser is as transparent, but you'd also be seen positively, as you can without problems even entertain. The comfort is worse at AKG. Instead of hooking the ears, the cushion is partly due to the ears and in time does a little hurt.
Summary: There is no clear winner for me. For the stereo, I would prefer the Sennheiser for all musical styles. But since I need the headset's mainly for electric piano, I have clearly opted for the AKG because you can concentrate better by better shielding to play the piano and the piano sound is similar.
Update, after watching the headphones now own approximately two and a half years: the sound characteristics of AKG headphones I find still excellent. The headset is but a bit uncomfortable, because it is indeed circumaural, but leaves enough room for my (normal-sized) ears. To this I would pay more attention today, and pick me a more comfortable model. I would not call it a model therefore not ergonomic, but everyone should try the headphones before buying definitely if it fits into one.
