The Samsung SSD 840 (500 GB) is used to replace the 520 installed in my notebook Samsung RV hard drive (320GB / 5400 RPM).
I opted for the Basic version, I thought to migrate easily to get it with Windows 7 standard tools. But the reality was much simpler:

1. SSD, CD and Benutzerzettelchen out pack.
2. quick look at the list: there is a migration software on the CD (but can also be downloaded at Samsung)
3. Install the software "Samsung Smart Migration Software" on the computer
4. SSD connected to a SATA-USB adapter
Started 5. Migration Software
6. Since the SSD is greater than the installed HDD, the partitions could be adjusted accordingly on a slider.
Started 7. Data Transfer
8. After about 1.5 hours, the transfer was completed (total of 80 GB of data)
Exchanged 9. HDD to SSD

The subsequent system start was exciting. Because so many background programs running, the start took with HDD 2:41 minutes. With SSD it was only 31 seconds.

Tests with different benchmark programs showed a reading performance of 540 MB / sec and a write speed of 329 MB / sec.

Another advantage: Even if the original HDD was quite softly, the SSD is silent.

Now I consider myself to install an SSD in my netbook. The increase in performance I can use even more comfortable there.
