I have next to this specimen yet further Headphones from Denon in-ear-plugs up to halfway good Sennheiser Kopfhöhrern. But no one could really convince me so, Anders here. The extra cost is worth it!
The headphones has a natural and undistorted sound in my ears and even without dedicated amplifier reach a whopping level. For example, on my iPod Nano 6th different with a Sansa Clip +, since the input level does not suffice it, but does not bother me, because that's not my MP3 player)
With amplifier in my notebook a ASUS Xonar U7, it can already offer really good sound and met my expectations completely. From the frequency spectrum it tops my living room vicious system which has met with piano music and high tones to their limits. The headset, however, also plays this off flawlessly and undistorted.
The bass is also tight and dynamic, but not oversized, like many lay out for cheaper players headset.
In the midrange, especially the wealth of sounds is convincing. You can hear details that were previously hidden. Is simply fun. So also movies come across well, where the dialogue will not fade behind the music or action. Even fake surround feeling by techniques such as "Dolby Pro Logic II", "CMSS-3D" or equivalent is good effect. In appropriate computer games, it facilitates the localization of sounds and can compete with "real" 5.1 headsets. Only that this sounds even better!
So I am completely satisfied. Especially with the comfort, which provides a good grip on my pretty little head, but is so pleasant that I almost forget sometimes to wear the headphones. Luckily the cable with three meters in length is good enough sized that you can also get up easily.
A nice side effect is the attenuation of ambient noise. Although it is not an active noise cancellation, but still a whopping attenuation of ambient noise. Since the next long-haul flight may like to come!
Finally I can say:
Anyone looking for a headphone for a wide range of sound, which should listen to this absolutely times! Certainly there are much cheaper that might sound subjectively better in some aspects. But if you can do without Bass bombing in favor of detail, I can the Beyerdynamic DT 880 only recommend!
