General:
It took me back then as I said urgently a portable hard drive for hobby but also for study's and but did not want to go under 1TB, this also does not spend too much money (student maintenance). The packaging is like, also kept the design of the disk itself is very minimalist / low. What surprised me when unpacking is that the hard drive is in a sort of egg carton, when opened, and the dimensions are really very low. The material for the hard disk is matte plastic that does not feel really good, but attracts fingerprints or similar on. Size Technically I can only say that it fits loosely in one hand. Approximately the size of a CD, but just square. The Utilization LED is white and quite bright, that's the only thing that bothers me. Not quite true, because my WD Elements came with bloatware, so test software that was on the memory. One can this, this software should always be there, but just delete or reformat the hard disk before use, then you realize the use nothing more of it.
personal experience:
For the study, the HDD was used daily at least 2 computers and every time it was recognized very quickly and was ready for use. Even with large amounts of data is the hard drive noise, and does not get hot. The power supply and the data transfer works via 1 USB cable so you do not connect 2 cables. 2.5 "is the hard drive to stow still very small and well also.
During leisure, as an amateur Plattendreher it is important for me to have my database here. Since dancing in general, however, are not the most peaceful places where you used hard drives, my hard drive has already been through a living. Right here I would have thought making the budget HDD a bad figure, but "Nope". The virtual disk turning directly from hard disk to function properly, while it does not get hot or loud. I write here 2-4 hours continuous stress and constant data query (even if only in small file sizes).
My biggest surprise came on New Years Eve. I played back directly from the hard drive and then wanted to rush out of the house quickly to 24 clock. Here I came to the laptop, which fell from about 1.50 m from the table on wooden floor and the same plus a drink with upset that spilled over him. What hung on him? the WD Elements course that bounced freely beside him on the wooden floor and into the liquid. Since I no similar case use I was very surprised when I realized that the HDD has suffered no external damage. And it does go so far even without restrictions. Only the case creaks under light pressure, but that limits their function in a manner keister.
Conclusion:
All in all I'm very happy with my discount department and they can hesitate to recommend. It is small, insensitive to dirt and fingerprints and has even survived a pretty big fall in my case. The data transfer values I can not judge because I'm technically bewamdert all. But for me the speed is sufficient. Who is not a design fanatic who claims to have necessarily a white, high-gloss hard drive (just as Ex) who gets here an inconspicuous, small, well-functioning hard drive for little money.
