Finally a well-functioning 4-Port KVM Switch

I had first bought the TRIXES KVM Switch with 4 USB 2.0 ports plus 4 cable because be in my server closet now 4 small server romp (3x HP ProLiant MicroServer and 1x Acer Aspire easyStore H340 *), although prima avail themselves via Remote Desktop but just no BIOS settings, etc. are therefore possible. And it is really difficult first time to connect a monitor.

I even have lying around an old PS / 2 KVM Switch with 4 ports, but none of the small server has these connections.

When connecting I was happy about the fact that you have to connect each only a USB and a VGA connector. Especially the VGA connector have a clever Extra: The Screws are designed so that they end up (ie where you turn around) much wider and thus can be turned much easier and without much force. Unfortunately, it appears that normal operation of the connected computer is no longer possible. The connected USB devices (mouse and keyboard) are not or only sporadically detected. In addition, there may be no multimedia keyboards but only 101, 102 or 104-key keyboards. In my case it was 102, but does not work or only from time to time. The right on the computer immediately functioning USB laser mouse has been registered, the driver installation failed, however.
Thus the TRIXES KVM Switch returned with 4 USB 2.0 ports plus 4 cable.

Too Bad.

Therefore, I have then unceremoniously the Digitus DS-12200 4-Port USB KVM Switch Pocket bought (and as always when buying directly from Amazon delivery the next morning) and this connected. Unfortunately, here is the I mentioned "turning rods" is announced to get the VGA ports on the server, and the blind crowded the back of the rack. Yet also here the thumbscrews are very short, have no slot for the use of tools and ended up staying rounded. Even right under my nose, I would get these things hardly tightened. In the next two devices is not as easy a WHS V1 and SBS 2003 R2. From BIOS While the mouse and keyboard are also here erkannnt, but after the Windows startup they are not available. So again fast mouse and keyboard directly connected to the device => goes.

The solution for both systems (are just a little older ...) looks like this: Just in Device Manager disable marked with a yellow exclamation point "USB Composite Device". Then re-enable it. Immediately find a Windows driver and install the USB Composite Device. Why not so? Now, mouse and keyboard work again to the KVM switch and.

Toll are the hotkeys that operate independently from the computer at any time, so 2xStrg for advancing on the active device. Which hot keys there are (for example for the mouse) is in the enclosed booklet.

The device itself has no switch and the cables are firmly attached, but it will anyway disappear in the rear rack and fixed cable mean a flaw less.

I'm really pleased and can only recommend this hardware-close solution!
