The Philips Avent SCD 530 met my needs best. The baby monitor consists of a parent and baby unit. The function of the baby unit is not limited to voice communications, but also serves as a music box with 5 different melodies. Furthermore, as an additional light donor who conjures up a soft light in the room and a room thermometer and hydrometer. All data is transmitted from the baby unit to the compact parent unit via DECT and can also be operated from there (eg selection melody, light on / off, etc ...).
The parent unit allows a laterally arranged the intercom button. So the baby can be calmed by coaxing. I also use it like to speak with my wife, which is located in another room with our daughter.
The criticism that the parent unit is too quiet, I can not share. On the contrary, now and then there were grisly feedbacks when the parent unit was in the opposite room and the doors were opened. In this case, the volume had to be reduced.
Transmission is via DECT standard, with an increased transmission power (also dependent on the removal of the parent to the baby unit) only takes place when a certain adjustable noise level is exceeded. The transmission is absolutely free from foreign influences. In some reviews of the high noise level has been criticized. Indeed, a striking background noise at max. Volume perceptible. This noise comes from the probably very sensitive microphone of the baby unit. Finally, the device (sensitive stage) alarmed at the slightest noise by flashing LEDs or vibration of the parent unit. Since it's enough if in the remote country road drives past a truck. Due to the very high sensitivity, it makes no sense the unit to a smaller level than level 2 set.
The parent unit is very compact and can optionally be worn with a belt clip or a strap. The battery life is indicated with 24. In practice, the battery lasts much longer.
I had to change the first device, because there's always wrong temperature readings were displayed (usually 3-4 ° too much). Even the replacement, which was sent without difficulty by Amazon, this error was present. Only through proper warranty processing from Philips (Note: an excellent pick-up service), I got a device that displays a correct temperature. I suspect, therefore, that there is a faulty series in circulation.
On the whole, there's really nothing you can do better on this device, which is why I recommend 5 star and this device for sale.
