Probably one of the best King of the first hour. Pure horror in the vein (almost palpable force graphics), it is at what King wrote better. One can prefer the tone of his novels humans (Misery, Gerald's game and especially Dolores Claiborne) or its more lyrical and fantastic universe (the Dark Tower, his collaborations with P.Straub), Salem itself as a full success story modern vampires. Terror is almost physical, the dramaturgy of the vampire very well installed, and of course the anchor in the American 70's banal everyday is perfect. One of the hardest and darkest novels of the author, a moral and mystical simplicity far removed from some of his more recent novels.
