A first test showed: The bracket is very well thought out, the size and shape of the camera are very practical and useful for many applications. She was attached in a few minutes on the bike helmet. The keys are also good blind to find and easy to operate. Super is the lens cover to conserve the lens when the camera is not in use. The cover can be mounted with a piece of string, eg stable twist, to the camera, so it is not lost.
Image Quality:
When it comes to image quality, the Mobius is comparable with the Gopro The image is consistently sharp and in good light in great detail, with the standard lens, the distortion is very tolerable. The colors are a bit richer than the GoPro, the contrast behavior in low light is not quite optimal, but OK. In bad light, an automatic noise filtering seems to be activated. The camera has an electronic stabilization program. Thus they can also be mounted on a bike, for example times. Maybe a Gimbal will soon commercially available, models for 3D printers, there are probably already.
Form and assembly:
The camera can be much easier to install than anything the GoPro. With me so far submitted to the always supplied holder and some cable ties. The Mobius is not nearly as striking as it is, for example, mounted on the holder can easily accommodate in a 5cm gap. So far I could only minimal Jelly ("Wabern" of the image due to vibrations) notice against a foam pad is included. I can mount the camera using the supplied material to the bicycle helmet, the bicycle handlebar or on a flight model with a few simple steps. One only needs a few additional rubber or cable ties.
Features:
The camera has 3 keys, a on-off switch, a mode switch and a record button. With the mode switch you can switch 3 modes during normal operation, 2 video and photo mode 1. Each mode is configurable, so you can, for example, mode 1 with upright image, make two mode turned 180 ° image. The camera has many features: multiple video modes, Time Lapse in Picture or Video mode. Loop Recording with adjustable parameters, 25-60 frames / s, which does not go 60fps in all resolutions. There are also functions such as timestamp, image rotation, motion sensor and more. For firmware updates often are added not only bug fixes, but also new features.
Settings:
The Mobius was developed for model aircraft. Therefore, they had to be small and light, making a display with menu buttons nonsensical. Therefore, it makes a lot of settings before using the PC. Then you have about the 3 keys access to the pre-programmed modes. When configuration help, there are programs for Windows, Macintosh and Android. But even without this software you can change all settings, the camera saved to a well commented configuration file on the SD card. This file can be changed and can again read. A very simple and efficient method. My current settings are: Mode 1: 1080p / 30fps HDR highest quality, upright. Mode 2: 1080p / 30fps HDR highest quality, 180 degrees, mode 3 photos in motion. The power switch is programmed to turn the camera on after 4sec pressing the switch on or off, the verhinder accidental activation during the assembly. When connecting a power supply I let the camera automatically Video mode 1 start. All of these features were configured.
For me, after a firmware update many features were added, like the promises of the manufacturer, the camera is obviously constantly evolving, and you come even after the purchase to benefit from these improvements. Full kudos to the manufacturer.
Updating:
Firmware updates are exterm simple: put file on the SD card, insert the SD card, turn on the camera and wait. Exemplary!
Conclusion: Although the Mobius is in a price range that was previously reserved for the Budget Cams, is it any budget camera but clearly belongs to the segment of GoPro. The design of the camera has been specifically designed for use in model aircraft, the modelers were asked directly, and their wishes were immediately implemented. That one would wish for more products. Big compliment to the manufacturer for customer proximity. The Mobius you get a full, small, lightweight, well-designed Action Cam, which is almost everywhere easily and inconspicuously mountable, works very reliable and excellent video (and photos) provides.
Full recommendation to buy, an absolute fun part for the modeller, but also for all other conceivable action cam application fields. Big compliment to the manufacturer who has listened to its customers and developed a camera all the way to customers' wishes. So you could wish for customer service!
