The Gear Fit is slightly bulkier than the FitBit, but just as easily and after some time you feel it little more wrist.
I use my S3 Mini to join the Gear Fit with my phone. The synchronization works the fitness data unfortunately not (yet) because that S3 Mini is not officially supported. Through a few tricks but you get the Gear Fit Manager up and running, with which one can adjust wonderful all notifications etc.
The training program of Gear Fit is quite extensive. You can choose between running, hiking, walking and cycling. Unfortunately, you have hiking and cycling the phone constantly carry because this requires the GPS signal Gear. I wonder why I have to then still have to lug my phone at all a great fitness watch ....? I find personally very disturbing and I have therefore not yet fully tested.
While jogging and other endurance sports to choose "Run" from. At the beginning of training the resting heart rate is measured and then the training program starts. You can even adjust predefined objectives and the Gear Fit informed me when I have achieved this. While running the pulse is continuously measured and displayed on the screen. For me a great thing and simply by raising his arm and looked at the display. You do not have to press the button for the display automatically switches itself.
The heart rate monitor is a sharp thing! Both the training pulse and the resting heart rate are measured properly and are up to a few beats / min identical to a medi hiss device.
The pedometer works well during training and is relatively accurate. Unfortunately, there are deductions for everyday use of the pedometer. You have to activate it and it is not, such as constantly activated when FitBit Force. At first I thought it was very awkward, now I see it as an advantage, as the Gear Fit the steps not even count almost exactly in everyday situations. When writing on the PC keyboard steps are counted, brush while vacuuming and the teeth. Of that I'm really disappointed. The FitBit Force was much more accurate and actually only counted the steps. The Gear Fit counts in everyday life even with small arm movements steps. Therefore do I turn off the pedometer mainly during the day and activate it when I walk long distances or doing sports. Perhaps Samsung is doing here something about it with an upcoming update.
Otherwise already exist now some free apps that contribute to the functional expansion of Gear Fit. For example, can make the phone mute or WLAN on or off. In addition, the address book can be searched and the mobile calendar with appointments are displayed. Real handy! The alerts (email, SMS, Whatsapp and even quiz duel ;-)) work perfectly.
The battery life is approximately 3-4 days with medium use. When times drives several days no sport should the battery last even longer, since the training of the heart rate monitor uses a lot of electricity.
CONCLUSION: A really chic and practical fitness watch with premium heart rate monitor. Also called SmartWatch to use well by some additional apps from the Play Goals. Only the pedometer in everyday life and the lack Möglichtkeit fitness data to be transmitted to the mobile phone minuses. I would the Gear Fit for the current price (150) at any time and not shy comparison with the FitBit Force!
