Packaging: leaves no reason for censorship. All glued neatly etc.
Content: To use all the functionality available, except for the USB cable and network cable, which I needed for installation (see below).
Installation: is very simple. After the printer is turned on and a little time to start up needs running an animation of how to proceed now. This can be well done in passing. At some point you will be asked to enter the supplied disk into the computer. Automatic LAN installation did not go with me right away. So I chose USB installation (cable enough I luckily). After the printer is discoverable also as a network printer. At the end of the printer reboots.
Then there's an update - the printer is always online when connected to the network. To stop the obviously requires a corresponding rule in the firewall / router in.
Operation: very very easy and intuitive. All controlled via the small but sufficient touch display. There valid for the current selection functions are only activated, so it also inexperienced users very easy to operate the device.
- Faxing and copying in for me more than sufficient quality without turning on your PC very easily. Advantageously, here is the automatic sheet feeder, which makes it easy to send / copy without the hassle of refilling multiple sheets.
- Scanning with flatbed or feeder - for the quick scan is sufficient to feed completely. Higher resolutions of course in the flatbed.
- The pressure in standard quality looks after the first few pages on favorable plain good. Etc. No appreciable strips The print head is aligned automatically during installation with some noise. The researched printing costs are approximately 1.6 ct per text page, and so in comparison with similar units below the average (ie cheaper) are. Color printing with 9 ct and 17 ct per photo printing with page are probably midfield. That was also one of the main reasons for my purchase decision.
ePrint - interesting gimmick:
When the printer is online, he will receive from HP a relatively cryptic e-mail address. If you send emails to this address, it will be printed. 1st page is the content of the e-mail (no mail header, only the contents), on subsequent pages, the attachments are printed. I have tested it with a PDF and miraculously caught the printer from sleep shortly after mail delivery with the pressure on. Do not you
have, but is back and again maybe quite useful.
Critical data I would not print that way.
And also my only feeling unwell is due to the constant online presence, I do not know what is sent to HP. Is technically possible, of course, pretty much everything. I do not think that my tax return interested in HP someone, but the possibility can smack. Here I will in the next few days time network traffic analysis to find out a little more. Turns out that the printer sends data, the online access to him is capped by firewall rule. Then I renounce gladly on one thing or another gimmick.
Overall, the unit seems to be but a good companion in the small office life. Both the versierte-, and the unsuspecting user is likely to come prima cope with the device.
