The previous best Android Smarthphone - unfortunately with dramatic workmanship!

The HTC One is one of the Android devices - yes I would go so far as to say that Android device - with the date visually most appealing design and the highest quality image. I will do without consciously on the word too often used wertig as this anyway not really says something about the level of significance.

Unfortunately, it remains in the above-mentioned quality but only in appearance, but this later. Now to hope largely objective consideration of the HTC One:

Appearance:
In terms of forms and materials of the front and back, HTC has done here remarkable, a design which is unparalleled in Androidlager.

Display:
The One of the screen presents sharp, very bright, with good white balance and with regard to the color representation, in principle well calibrated.

Hardware and Performance:
Equipped with one of the currently most powerful CPU / GPU combinations, all actions run very smoothly and in none of my hand tested application, whether grafiklastigem game or in everyday use, stuttering could be seen.

Sound of stereo front speakers:
Somewhat clearer and better I have not heard in a smartphone.

Call quality:
A little consequence falling, but permanent background noise accompanied the speaker through every conversation, which is not very disturbing, but not optimal.

Camera:
The camera has mentioned their strengths, as mentioned in several reviews, in the twilight, where the larger pixels come into play. By day the optics deliver across the board good results, but can not compete with the competitors in detail; which might seem logical but with one third of the number of pixels. Poor contrast is partially conspicuous color change through aggressive postprocessing algorithms, sharpen and contrast artificially increase to the lower number of pixels which compensate.

Battery:
After several charge cycles brought me the battery despite three PushMail accounts and many data of active services easily throughout the day, but it depends most devices of 2012 after what is simply to owe the huge displays the current device and hardly looks different even with the competition.

Software & Features:
The software of the One appears tidy up spartan (which is not negative), you will find your way easily, the layout of the icons is decent and noble, Sense 5 brings visually new wind in the dusty surface Android. Unfortunately, it has already been transferred to clearly negative points at this point, however:
The at first glance nice to seeing Blink feed is redundant after a few scroll movements can only be extremely moderate personalize lack of supply and is any good RSS reader far inferior.
The notification LED can not be in the color set and can only light up in red and green, or flashing. Depends on the smartphone charger, the LED will stay red until the unit is fully charged and this will change to green. Obtained during charging now a SMS, WhatsApp message, Got Mail or other notifications, the LED fails its actual task and shows as long as the corresponding charging status color on until one is disconnected from the charger. It remains only to look at the display if it was some time absent. The solve other manufacturers significantly better.
So much fun all Zoe functions well and the corresponding presentation in the gallery, so annoying it is that in this same, for example, usually not at all do not show up via Bluetooth received files only; even if you look at it upside down. It remains only a roundabout way in the Bluetooth folder, from which not much can do with the file. Also has its own File Manager brings HTC not.
The music player is good, but it lacks any kind of adjustment, either Beats Audio, or; more is not possible.
Especially me personally missing but the small features that Samsung previously facilitated my life; the icons in the notification bar to activate the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. as well as the Home button, I would have thought never to miss. The on / off switch is simply placed on the top left of the worst place that can be a right-handed only imagine. The notification by short vibrations of the unit during lifting, without removing it from the case, is missing.
So many little dots come together more, which, though still but made the One to a good, my S3 to an uglier indeed, but something more effective everyday companion.
The Calendar app so has its quirks, but she refuses stubbornly to update eg accidentally entered incorrectly Birthdays for correction as well as deletion of the app caches and multiple synchronization does not help.
Certainly much of it can be solved at some point via Software Update, but this is the status quo. Here, however, it should be noted that I was not unhappy with the software, it should only be given to a comparison of what could be done better, or is missing. It is also commendable that a clear, simple lines followed in the programming, without overloading a machine with features. One can certainly when S3, S4 or disable unnecessary features, yet provide for this unübersichtlichere menu in the settings and not just sleek operating system. This point is therefore not purely negative for HTC to see.

Processing:
This is the most critical point of an otherwise very good smartphone that should really do have a unique selling point in this aspect; What it does have, however, in a negative sense.

I came as an idea to already, about the Galaxy series for HTC One. I wanted to get away from the plastic and try a more noble material, as I already noticed at the time of HTC Desire and Galaxy S, Desire by its pleasing design. The something very colorful Touchwiz interface from Samsung is not the best and could be replaced by something more simplistic. This can of course by other Launcher change, which is not an issue here. So was the one after the Xperia Z on my part was eliminated after several tests by the very poor display characteristics, predestined.

So, now I, however, send the sixth and definitely last Silver HTC One back to Amazon (thank you at this point for the always perfect service, Amazon may have little to nothing for these defects) and turn in repentance to Samsung and not just beloved, but absolutely clean processed, injection-molded polycarbonate back. You wonder why? Now:

1. unit:
- Defective vibration motor, which rattled loudly and clearly struck the inside of the housing
- More permanent white lit pixel in the display center
- Extreme, uneven gaps up to 1 mm, for a device with Zero Gap Design
- Uneven, partly sharp transitions from screen to speaker grilles and plastic
- Frayed polycarbonate edge around the volume control

2. Device:
- Several dead pixels
- Even larger gaps at head and foot, some with faulting
- Even in bright light visible from shining through the soft key illumination through gaps between the display glass and black sidebars on the left and bottom right

3. Device:
- Back defective vibration motor
- Deep notch in the peripheral chamfer of the aluminum frame above the volume control
- Dead Pixels
Towards strong bulge of the charging socket, overhang of just over 1 mm for aluminum -

4. unit:
- Slight notch in bordering bevelled edge of the aluminum frame above the volume control
- Defective SIM card slot, the out stands for full insertion nor 1,5 mm
- Again extreme gaps

5. unit:
- Crescent outbreak bottom left of the plastic frame of about 4 mm in length and 2 mm depth
- Display does not reach the brightness of previous devices

6. Device:
- Slight gaps at head and foot, but acceptable
- Sinusoidal crack or fiber between the display glass and display panel
- Several dead pixels
- Yellowish Display

As can be imagined therefore, I really wanted to use this device like, despite any small "weaknesses", the other package harmonized perfectly. The One would be a wonderful Smartphone, whose success I had HTC really indulged. However, the quality is there apparently so bad that it seems impossible to get a clean processed device; what you can expect at a price beyond the 600 simply and should.
Therefore, unfortunately, the whole concept fails on very badly processed, wrong selected plastic, with apparently incorrectly computed shrink.
Thus, I can not forgive only two stars; for the good hardware and software design, some really nice features like Zoe and the good will of HTC to develop than previously seen a higher quality Android device.

Which can call their own but a solid processed One, I congratulate them. My patience is now, unfortunately, at the end, and I will turn to the S4, which will make me happier in the long run well.

EDIT:
General should be mentioned that easily nachdunkelte after a few days, especially after prolonged sun exposure (eg by camera outdoor use), the plastic frame. This was clearly visible in direct comparison with the respective replacement unit.
