- MKV playback
- Built-in Wi-Fi (not very widespread in Blu-Ray players, usually you have an additional WLAN Stick to buy)
But now to the device itself:
* Blu-Ray
The following Blu-Ray I have tested so far:
- Avatar
- Zodiac
- Dark Knight
- Gran Torino
- The Worlds Fastest Indian
- Inception
All were played flawlessly.
* Image Quality
The image quality of the device is very good as long as you adjust the following. You start any movie, press the Info button and selects the bottom (on the color palette icon) feature film.
* Network Features
** Movies over the network
Since I have archviert all my DVDs and Blu-Rays on a DLNA server, the Blu-Ray player should also be able to play this. All MKVs be played smoothly (via WLAN). You can change the audio within the film, fast forward and so on. One only has to consider the following: The player (as well as all other Blu-ray player) plays MKVs from only if the codec is Mpeg4 movie. As a DVD in MPEG2 format, they must first be converted into MPEG-4 format. However, but this is very easy to do with the tool HandBrake.
Furthermore, the player will play no DTS-HD Dolby TrueHD yet. But this is not so bad, as a Dolby Digital Tonspuer is on (to my knowledge any) Blu-Ray compatibility reasons. NOTE: The playback of DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD of a Blu-Ray works course properly.
** LG Premium
The BD670 offers under the "Premium" menu some additional functions, such as Youtube, Picasa, Google Maps, Internet radio and a few more (Tagesschau application is not there !!!).
The Internet Radio (vTuner) is a very successful app. It determines the beginning, where you are about and then displays regional station. Of course you can still hear all the channels in the world.
* Service
The player is very responsive to inputs. He also travels much faster than other high-Blu-Ray player, so it is available almost instantaneously. Merely opening the LG takes premium applications about 5 to 10 seconds (which I think is relatively long).
Updating the player presents a small problem: The software of BD670 consists of two parts. One is just a few MB large sums over 100MB and the other. The player can not play the same times both parts. Proceeding now to update, the first attempt always fails, because only the first part has been updated. In the second update process the large part of the firmware is updated. However, this also fails often because the LG server apparently often disconnect. Now you have two options: 1. keep trying aufzuspielen the update or 2. install the update via USB flash drive.
* More
The fan of the device seems to be very noisy in some buyers, so also with me. But that is not the fan itself, but on the attachment to the device. Fans can the screws a little bit, no longer hear only the wind by the device, but the fan. If you sit 1m away from the device, you can no longer hear him. Since LG could attach a pair of rubber washers between the fan and case. Fortunately, the problem is easy to fix.
