Details:
Granted, a BD player should be able to play BDs well primarily that he does properly. My guess (Caution: Guess !!! Due to the same designs, whether really the same drive is mounted with the same problems, I do not know!) Is that the player is affected by the same fluctuations in the volume of the drive, such as the H6500 (see. my review there). Experiences like this in the comments!
The Sony BDP-S6200 / BDP-S5200 is also based on OperaTV but has browser, Amazon Prime, max cathedrals, Tagesschau, Watch Ever, [...] everything in it, what is there so extra "useless apps" still a lot more ...;) The limitations here are therefore not the fault of OperaTV (that suits me the basic operation more than Samsung's SmartHub), but Samsung's intention, for whatever reason ...
Nowadays, at least I'll buy such a device as a media player for DLNA server for access to online video stores, etc. Just for this reason, because my old unit (ES6000) was very slow in all these things, I want to grow me a new unit. Therefore, these functions are just for me Kernpunte because play BDs I could previously also satisfactory.
So I am doing with the evaluation somewhat difficult: When BD player without SmartTV / Apps, with the extra Miracast and YouTube here: 5 star (although I do not know here is how the volume of the drive is: If the just as bad as when my 3 H6500 is - and I suspect that because of the otherwise identical designs -. then 2 stars are still too many comments are welcome here as I said!).
But if you buy a new Samsung players, because they were satisfied with the old, then you will experience the following surprise:
- DLNA Support: Should there, but accessing my Synology Disk Station, which works flawlessly with all other devices will be denied. Error message: There could no video / audio / photo - directories are found.
- No browser (just that surprised at Opera, also precisely because accessing the App Store is "browser is loading")
- No max cathedrals
- No Watch Ever
- No Amazone Prime / LOVEFiLM (etc.)
- In general: Up on YouTube only unnecessary / unpopular Apps (Sony has in S6200 much more apps and a browser in it, although it is the same platform, OperaTV is).
What works well:
- YoutTube
- Screen-mirroring (Miracast tested with Sony Z1)
The sake of completeness all the answers to the relevant questions from the Samsung support:
"Please note that for this device just a few pre-installed apps are available. A wider variety of apps offer devices with a Smart Hub, for example, the BD-H6500. A kind of retrofitting on BD-H5900 will not give it.
The device has DLNA. Please note that NAS hard drives of access can not be guaranteed. It depends on the installed there each media server. Try to install another there. "
Again, the demand on the Samsung chat:
"With Opera only selected apps are on.
It can not be retrofitted.
For this purpose you have already received the correct information.
The BD-H6500 does not have Opera, but via the smart hub.
Furthermore, NAS systems are not supported by our devices. This has the simple background that in conjunction with NAS hard drives, it is verhäuft in recent years come to mistakes and we on the site give no warranty that it works. That is, it can work, but that it does not have. "
This, in turn, I find very important to know that was nowhere! The only difference, according to Feature Comparison was that the H6500 Ultra-HD can. Then I'll probably now the order and report. If that's true, it's not my opinion of the Samsung descriptions (currently) as made explicit.
In addition, it does Synology Media Server with me and their friends with all appliances, also with the Samsung BD-H6500, PS3 and Sony BDP-S6200 as has never been something not working. To this extent, this response is somewhat sobering!
