Since the range of functions on the manufacturer's website and in other data sheets and detailed descriptions is nachlesbar, I will confine myself in this review on the personal experiences.
Equipped the TZ71 with a rather cheap-looking plastic housing on the lower right side of the case at the end of the battery / battery cover is particularly relatively sharp. After a long photo session during an event I almost had me by the skin rubbed raw on the holding fingers.
Positive highlight is the rubber grip on the right side of the housing, with which the camera is well in hand. However, the (non-retractable) Flash is very inconvenient installed directly above it in the housing. It is therefore very difficult to hold the camera so that the flash is not covered with the middle finger.
To charge the camera the Dremel USB cable is required. On the camera side a special connector is used, which is not usual with other standards (such as Micro USB) compatible.
In Intelligent Auto Mode (iA) recorded images appear generally quite dark. When shooting indoors, the camera often ISO sensitivities of 1600 or 3200 which selects such images appear very grobpixelig or noisy despite good lighting and flash illumination. Even when recording outdoors sharpness is often mediocre even at low zoom levels. Found I was especially when photographing trees, where the leaves or needles were very blurred recognized (with no wind, muddy appearance).
Video recordings:
The Start / Stop button for videos is rather poorly positioned at the top right of the camera directly behind the on / off button. The operation therefore requires sensitivity, otherwise it may happen that instead of starting the video recording, the camera is turned off.
The recording does not start until about 1 second after pressing the button. That's my experience with most cameras that. But completely incomprehensible to me is the fact that videos are cut about 2-3 seconds at the end. This means that the recording does not stop at that point in time at which the button is pressed again, but just earlier. - That was my 5 year old Canon PowerShot better. We tested the with all available video quality and more different memory cards. The camera shows this behavior in all combinations.
Conclusion: This model offers extensive functions and settings that allow for the hobby photographer little to be desired. There are 2 stars. Given the relatively high purchase price, this model offers only mediocre image quality and is difficult to handle. The good reviews I can not understand and would not recommend this camera anyway.
