Does what he should, unfortunately with undesirable side effects

Kitchenaid 5KFE5T Flexi-stirrer for food processor, 4.8 L (household goods)

Customer Review

I have the Flexi stirrer bought to complement the flat beater for batters, desserts etc. The stirrer does what he should, he scrapes the dough on the edge, little sticks. Unfortunately, it comes with the use but to unwanted side effects.

- Noise: The agitator skin in very thin liquid ingredients with each turn with right Schmackes against the bowl wall, as if you were still casually knocking his carpets. First, this is very disturbing and secondly can do in the long run the transmission is not good. I had actually assumed that the lip is made of soft silicone and is already preformed in the direction of rotation. But contrary of which it is made quite hard material, such as holding a spatula. Possibly be there with the noise even after prolonged use, if the "blade" shape of the bowl still accepts. The quiet and easy running, which one is used to from KitchenAid, a thing of the past in any case at the moment.

- Cleanliness: Everyone has surely ever made the experience that the ingredients like flying at times to voreiligem revving to the faster steps out of the pot. With the Flexi stirrer has the certainty that it even at level 1 already pretty splashes and seek liquid and solid ingredients the way out of the pot ... you then increased the speed to level 4 you will not come without the cap in order to prevent, at least within the machine a moderate mess. Quite forget you can use the small 3L-key with the Flexi stirrer, this combination is absolutely useless.

- Despite the Flex stirrer still residues left behind in the bowl. In the area of the pot bottom the solid ingredients of the dough from sticking. So you have yet again help out manually with a spatula, otherwise the nice smooth batter again still includes lumps.

For the price offered, the result is unfortunately sobering ... everyone must do it yourself but his experience with. Based on the many positive reviews, most buyers seem happy indeed. I'm certainly not ...

Update as of 02/16/2014: I have now prepared with the flexible beater some dough. Unfortunately, this has not proven ... As previously faulted: It splashes and spills. You have to start with the flat beater and then do if everything is fairly mixed, with the flexible beater continue so until. But if you now still have to top up anything liquid, such as milk or dissolved butter, then this splashing out of the pot. There is a total mess, and the splash guard uses nothing.

I have looked at the Australian Kitchenaid page diverse application videos viewed (can also be found on Youtube). Again the lady begins with the flat beater, then starts to the flexible beater. If you have to change anyway, or pause, then one can also immediately use his old spatula and save the money. But if the flexible beater is running, then the result is quite good. Good but really this is only for medium-strength to firm dough. For low viscosity dough, eg for pancakes, the stirrer smacks too strongly to the bowl wall and it squirts.

So all in all a not necessarily recommendable accessory.
