Otherwise, there is really nothing to complain about but at the operator ergonomics and the necessary external appearance, in my view. A class feel of the stainless steel surfaces with pot as base station, set flush into the base operating buttons with precise pressure points, give an all around solid quality with regard to the processing of all Gerätes- as applicable, moreover, on the inside of the water jug. From a Kalkfiltereinsatz plastic apart, can be found far and wide only stainless steel, as far as the eye can see - a model, because as the boiled water is always tasteless, which is particularly important for the preparation of sensitive teas immensely important and clearly beneficial.
When it comes to usability of AEG scores clear:
1) The ergonomics:
Activated and operated via the controls, the device located in the base. This is built very solid and heavy enough so the 360 degree stainless steel pot findet- safe and firm grip on nothing wobbles or slips, enjoyable!
2) The POWER / START "key:
It provides a real Abschaltfunktion- say, after the stove has brought the water to the desired temperature, it goes first in standby function ". If you press the button for longer, the appliance switches off completely, even if the plug in the socket remains ! Such a thing can help to save power. Bravo AEG insofar think only a few manufacturers.
3) The temperature selection:
The kettle AEG EWA 7800, has a total of fewer than or equal to 8 temperature settings that can be selected directly on the base station through the "PRESET" key. The following heating stages are available: 50 ° C, 60 ° C, 70 ° C, 80 ° C, 85 ° C, 90 ° C, 95 ° C and 100 ° C there really no more to be desired. And the whole thing is topped then ultimately even by each matching drinks recommendation that is displayed next to the selected temperature. Starting with the coffee, over Olong-, and white and green tea varieties, everything is on offer. I know here no alternative product that a similar comfort and temperature selection, as the kettle from AEG.
Another plus when it comes to temperature selection:
This becomes apparent only on closer inspection. The AEG EWA 7800 shows in the display not only as usual, the target temperature, and then counts as it is the rule in the competition, from 50 degrees minimum temperature in larger (usually increments of 5) upwards. No, the thing is a real genius, and measures once was turned on, after setting up the filled pot, the real inside water temperature and reports this degree accuracy on the display. Counted is the AEG-temperature sensor in steps of 1 !!! !!!. This can be brought to any degree within the water then in principle. Simply remove the jug from the base socket when it reaches the desired temperature. Both simple and ingenious. This SUITABLE the kettle as one of the few on the market ever really comes to ERWÄRMWN OF WATER FOR BABY FOOD! The recommended anywhere a standard 37 degrees ideal temperature can be reached so the point! For us, and this is one real benefit because we have an 8-week-old son. Since it has been really thought along in the development department from start to finish. Better it is my view, non-5 star deluxe!
4) The "1-cup function":
Also selectable via an own key, to loud AEG a novelty to be in the market and serve to even small amounts of water (200 ml, the filling volume of an average cup), to bring time savings quickly and energetically efficient to drinking temperature (50 degrees). Real advantages not open up for me here, unfortunately, as can be mathematically recognize no time advantage over other competitors brand for me. The only real difference is that the protection device other kettle, makes a turning by 500 ml of water in the pot impossible! That being said, I think this feature but totally dispensable and really unnecessary. We have previously used a single time in everyday use. The whole is more a well-meant gimmick.
On the subject of water volume:
Here, the pot of AEG EWA 7800, with its full 1.7 liters volume sufficient reserves for the family life. So several drinks may be about the same at the same time or one after the other made with hot water, and the often cumbersome and time-consuming permanent "cook" is undertaken. By no means always standard in other models of kettle competition.
5) The "Keep-Warm" function (keeping warm):
The not missing the AEG EWA 7800, but is soon at each mid-range device usage, and therefore in my view nothing special. The stove keeps the once selected temperature up to 40 minutes constantly maintained. So a second cup of tea can be drunk even after a short pause, without the water required for this purpose must be fully reheated. Nevertheless, the AEG cooker scores here again with a small but nice detail: The basic "remembers" for the warming function once fixed number of degrees, even if the pot taken off the base, and then (after filling the second cup of about) is placed back. The re-setting of the parameters is omitted somit- cleverly thought out!
For heating process itself:
The AEG model heats the full 1.7 liters of water quantity, which are in the pot place, in average 5:53 minutes on 100 degrees. This is a decent average, which also corresponds broadly to the competition. Although not a record, but still acceptable, especially against the background that the EWA 7800 definitely ranks among the quietest on the market. The Koch sound is very quiet, in my view, never pushy our Philips predecessor, however, the purest "infernal machine" was, in every time we had the feeling that the pitcher would stand out at any moment. This requires, however, that is decalcified regularly ... the thicker the layer of lime on the can bottom, the louder and the noise when cooking AEG. If he kept clean, the boiler is whisper quiet.
Summa Summarum:
A really good kettle, with plenty of comfort in terms of operation and ergonomics that can clearly stand out from its competitors in this type. For this, a high-quality finish in stainless steel (one hardly sees fingerprints on the surfaces !!!) - almost perfectly so. Nevertheless, there are some drawbacks that I again would like to ask the following advantages over. For these ailments so here then "only" 4 stars.
Benefits:
+ High-quality workmanship in stainless steel (pot and base station)
+ Controls (buttons) with good pressure points
+ Sufficient heavy base prevents wobbling and slipping when removing the jug
+ Cord storage integrated in the bottom of the base station
+ Pot on the base 360 degrees, and wireless detachable
+ Concealed heating element (limescale), characterized durable
+ As soon as the plastic parts in the interior of the pot (neutral taste!)
+ Kalkfiltereinsatz, prevents lime particles pouring out from the pot
+ Drip-free pouring device (spout)
+ Stainless steel surface less susceptible to fingerprints
+ Very high-contrast, easy to read digital display with large digits
+ Digital temperature selection in 8 stages (50- 100 degrees)
+ Accurate display of the water temperature in the pot, after switching on the device. This made possible by removing the pot when it reaches a desired temperature, the choice of each
any intermediate temperature, therefore GENUINE suitability for the production of baby food (37 degrees)!
+ Warming function, up to 40 minutes
Disadvantages:
- Small Can opening, thus poorly accessible to descale and
To low- thereby filling opening angle of the lid bad and clean -
- Can lid can be opened after the heating often bad or jammed (deformation at higher temperatures as a cause?)
- Fragile locking mechanism of the cover (key and inboard spring element)
- Stainless steel construction (also inside), requires frequent descaling
- Very bad-read level indicator (through the handle of the pot covered)
- Real Benefits of 1-cup function "rather questionable
- Comparatively high purchase price (about 90 to 100 euros)
MEGA-annoying:
The constant beeps: 1x "beep" 2x "beep" 3 times "Beep" ... No matter how you're Blazed on AEG EWA 7800, everything will be acknowledged promptly with different long beeps. Even if the pot only placed or removed, or a button is pressed several times in succession (temperature selection) - always followed by a "beep, beep". This sucks right, even though the idea may be, as such, no doubt helpful, because you do not have to constantly wait in the kitchen until the boiler is ready to heat. But here the following applies: clearly too much of a good thing, and this in my view also too loud! The "alarm" that the device held in each handle is heard in every corner of the house yet! LOVE AEG developers, for God's sake, have pity on MY EARS stricken - IN THE COURSE OF THE NEXT facelift PLEASE SHUT! Future customers will know for sure appreciate it! ... Less is More.
Nevertheless:
The AEG EWA 7800 PREMIUM LINE is totally recommended, and in my view, still one of the best water heater, one can get on the market for its money. Over the long-term durability, can be currently of course, nothing to say, but I will, if appropriate, report here. And compared to our predecessors (a Philips Advanced, just as expensive), who gave up after less than a year, and the trouble with various pitfalls (see review here on Amazon) the spirit, a real premium product that can convince a whole.
Update March 2015: UNIT after only 3 months FAULT !!!
================================================== ===
The AEG kettle PremiumLine 7Series EWA 7800 is our commitment test primarily as a quick cooking aid in the preparation of baby food for our in the meantime 4 months old, son not PASS, the device is a multiple daily use is definitely not gewachsen- the outside top acting workmanship, seems obviously not continue inside the boiler in the same way.
The AEG EWA 7800 is now on every nook and cranny already "broken-winged" - at a purchase price of just under 100 euros for the unit never tolerabel- following defects / weaknesses do at:
- De integrated in the base display works only sporadisch- often it flashes only shortly after the device is started up, and then verharren- in darkness a temperature choice in this case is no longer possible.
- The AEG EWA 7800 has in the meantime a deafening noise every time Kochvorgang- this may seem obvious not to move with the degree of calcification of the pot, but the cause of the heater ago. Even if the unit is completely free of lime, changes to the existing problems, unfortunately, nothing.
- The lid does after heating of the water is no longer on the key mechanism Open- you need external aids (teaspoon style or similar) in order to open the can lid can. Apparently 'cooled a thermal problem of the plastic material used for the cover, which are too heavily ausdehnt- when heated lid and pot again, the sensing mechanism works properly again.
- The Kalksieb in the decanter is defect, the extremely thin and delicate tissue material is torn on the sharp plastic edges of the screen frame. This lime particles are no longer held back in the pot, but unhindered when pouring the water out with.
A thoroughly disappointing record for such an expensive device by just over 3 months Einsatzzeit- the AEG kettle PremiumLine 7Series EWA 7800, goes under the warranty processing back to Amazon, returning here as always without any problems!
So now for the good result of formerly four drops to only two meager star - and stay for good in itself functionality and the ease of use of the kettle.
AEG: "Unpack, Einstecken- not work" - because what appears to be off - high a faint idea!
Therefore,: IN THE MATTER OF KETTLE, once and never again AEG !!!
