At the opening of the box, a single sheet manual uses: please install the app to your iPhone, and follow the instructions. A little concise, but I am carried. And of course, the app can not detect the hub harmony, because it is not set. A ride on the Logitech website to download the latest manual, and I realize that no further information is given. A little research, I realize that he must go to [...] after installing plug-ins in my browser, I can finally access the configuration of my Hub! This lack of documentation is relatively medium for a brand like Logitech!
The configuration starts and first return: it's slow. The interface is disconnected from the Hub at times, and it is relatively unpleasant. It was a bit like returning 10 years back. Nevertheless, my brand equipment are detected relatively easily. Note that the use of model numbers is not always the best choice, the BBox Sensation being detected in single router whereas using "BBox Sensation", it marks perfectly.
The HDMI switch is against completely unknown Logitech base. Not wanting to spend 2 hours trying to match it to an existing model, I had to resort to learning: the detection has been quite erratic, but in the end, after I excited about my original remote control to the hub, everything was eventually detected.
The box "future video" is not currently recognized as a digital player. But the remote control works up front, so I must admit that I am not myself dwelt on the subject.
Configured, I spend creating activities to begin to see what happens. Although evil has taken me the iPhone app is pretty poorly made, and move from a remote control to another is long and daunting. The interface on each remote control is relatively unpleasant.
So I embarked on the creation of activities (basically launch the TV, the bbox, Bose, the switch to watch TV). Iphone or ipad, this creation is an achievement, the interface is not at all adapted to the size of the screen: downright unusable. On the PC (a Mac in my case), it turns a little better, and we can use ready-made packages. After creating configurations, I for my part of customize to choose which line I wanted to use on my HDMI Switch. In the end, four separate configurations for watching TV, the Apple TV, the Video Futur Box and PS3. And surprisingly, it completely changes the user experience, and one begins to appreciate to use only one button to turn all of a sudden!
To sum up:
- Product documentation Lack
- Interface of another age for configuration
- Iphone app medium, and completely buggy for configuring the Harmony Hub
- No dedicated app for iPad (I'm not talking about the app Tele7)
- Configuration of required activities
- Only 8 remote controls can be managed!
- But here goes: once it is set up, I think we can not do without
- Tele7 app very nice shape to turn on the TV and change the channel automatically without having to go through the remote control.
This product could clearly have 5 stars if an effort was made on applications and documentation. It's a pity that it comes spoil the user experience.
