... And there's something went wrong with this tripod. The stand itself is very robust, solid and stable. The tripod head is quite stable enough for a D7000 with 80-400mm telephoto.
But the connection between the two parts is in my opinion totally undersized, so that I would never use it without modification, for fear that someday simply fall off the tripod head with the expensive camera.
The problem is that the screw of the tripod, which should keep the tripod head, barely has 2 to 2.5 threads. And that the counter-thread in the tripod head is made of aluminum, not steel as with most cameras. Two threads of a 1/4 "screw are in aluminum but just not enough to guarantee a reasonable loading capacity of the connection. I would not hesitate to assume that a camera is enough already far below 6kg to let rip the aluminum thread.
Unfortunately, Cullmann sees no reason to change anything or to deliver only to demand a longer screw. Which reminds me quite a fall several ways to change the design with little effort so that the holding. The proposal to accept any damage to the camera by a failure of the stand, was found completely insane when Cullmann.
Since the tripod but is a very good choice overall for the price, I now tatächlich made a bolt 4mm not protrude into the tripod head but 16mm. The possibility has but everyone, so I can not only recommend that you check the appropriate place themselves and then to decide whether the connection sufficiently familiar or not.
Due to the significant risk that the tripod as it was delivered to break apart during normal use, there is only one star here.
