But my real problem remains:
3D Files from Sony HDR-TD20VE 3D camcorder (AVCHD 2.0 / Progressive) will continue to play over NAS only 2D.

Following the text that I had prepared for the Sony forum but so far could not publish because for weeks despite the presence MySony account registering for the Forum is possible.
> The assessment refers only to the streaming capabilities via DLNA the BDP-S490. The actual purpose of use as a BD player is not questioned.
Reason for sale was the purchase of a Sony HDR-TD20VE 3D camcorder. This was accompanied by a new video format called AVCHD Progressive / 2.0. Since in our household is accessed digital content via Synology NAS, this should now be done also for the self-made 3D clip. A Board research led me to the current Sony BD series.
Unfortunately there was for the Sony BD player in July 2012, a firmware update and since then all the DLNA annoy users.
The following is a summary of the e-mail traffic with the Sony Support. Redundancy as well as personal data has been removed.

When the user requests (16:11:12):
The 3-D images of the camcorder HDR-TD20VE (AVCHD 2.0) can be played by plugging directly into the Samsung C750 or via BD-RE and via external hard drive via USB BDP-S490 on. Okay!
Per 3D streaming via DLNA is however issued only 2D !!!
After matching Forums reports it is on the firmware update from 369 to 440! Under the 369 ran among others MKV container and AVCHD Progressive / 2.0 in 3D via DLNA easily. Per USB hard drive is still supported everything easily.
At the NAS Synology can not lie. The DLNA server passes the data only further. The DLNA client of the BDP-S490 fails and obviously this is not a firmware bug, but so wanted!
I bought the BDP-S490 only for the reason to allow a comfortable handling of 3D images of the Sony camcorder. I have more Blu-ray players namely already!
In short, I want that started with PlayMemories Home AVCHD Progressive files are streamed in 3D on the BDP-S490!
This requires obviously a firmware downgrade to version 369. Since I can not do this by matching Forums reports themselves, I want to send the unit and allow a downgrade to carry you.
Please contact me to clarify the procedure!
Answer Sony Support (28.11.12):
A downgrade is not possible for a service provider. We would like to point out that an explanation on the playable file types is available in the manual, which says that we can not guarantee the MKV files can be played back from a NAS server. Please read page 41 and 42 in the user manual.
As always, we need to see new policies regarding DLNA streaming also react as a manufacturer and pass it on. Therefore it can happen that in previous versions of the software specific functions were given, but according to the latest update no longer unfortunately.
Reply User (28.11.12):
After Board reports a downgrade is done after a long discussion with the support.
The MKV container support missing does not affect me, because I have many other streaming options via other producers belonging to the way also the DLN Alliance. There, I have no problems.
To my knowledge there have been regarding the last new policy of DLN Alliance in 2011. restrictions or requirements. Of unsupported formats are not noticed in this regard. On the contrary, aim to the unified-vendor support and be expanded support protected media content.
I'm talking about but not of protected content, but on self-created clips with Sony camcorders that have been played before the firmware upgrade in 3D without complaint from the NAS via the Sony player on the TV and no longer.
The minimum supported by DLNA-definition media formats are not timely and other known producers show that is no longer possible.
the user nachgeschoben (30.11.12):
Until now, I had assumed that only some types of files / file formats for the firmware update are no longer playable. But now I also understand why it is in the forums that DLNA streaming is no longer usable.
Photos: no JPG from various sources, mostly their own photos from DSLR or photo clippers
Music: no mp3, no matter what data rate, legal files, no DRM
This is to file formats that do not care about which client in our household (Samsung TV, Technisat DVB-C ISIO, PS3, XBox 360, Squeezebox, Apple TV, iPad, iPhone, various Win7-based systems and on OS X Lion ) are reproduced without difficulty. Other file formats I have not even tried, as the above belong to the express warranty.
Addition:
At 06:12:12 a new firmware update (M12R0438) was published. Short: jpg, mp3 will again support, without this being called in the update description. Many other formats not continue. But this has nothing to do with rights protection. This is apparently so willed otherwise. AVCHD Progressive / 2.0 still only in 2D.
Sony withdraws to alleged defaults of DLN Alliance and to not warranted characteristics. Too bad that it previously functioned without problems and is supported via USB drive.
I am curious to see if the next generation of devices is advertised with enhanced streaming capabilities, without any legally something will have changed!
