+ Very clear image quality. Did I previously risen due to the better reviews in professional journals a Canon G12 and have them because of poor image quality sent back (perhaps even my device is defective, however, the dealer could not fault except for a few hot pixels notice). The Nikon plays precisely where their trump card: the white balance works fine in daylight, artificial light, he is slightly improved. Only him is a large variance underlying (picture sets not see "all of a piece" of) can and monotone color ever bright red material are gray. A software update is urgently needed!
+ The feel is very good in my opinion, only the Zoom lever acts arg shaky
+ Pleasant large zoom range, only too little Wide
+ For a compact I find here the frequently criticized optical viewfinder not bad, just is not SLR
+ Distortion correction works amazingly well, I will, before issuing DxO supports P7000
+ The Lightning as Fillflash leaves in the automatic simply very well-balanced results that I would want for my D700 also there works only manually as well
+ Even if it's just a Rechenspielchen (noise reduction by reducing the number of pixels), I find the high-ISO function very nice, the results for snapshots quite usable. The noise performance is at ISO 1600 really very good for a compact
- Camera is incredibly slow, in this respect was the G12 P7000 streets ahead. Everything is slow: the switch-on, the Blitzaufladezeit, selecting in menu, focusing (when the AF at all times condescended to focus,), saving in RAW + JPG is unreasonable, zooming is already because of the shaky zoom lever difficult , this very annoying because of the slowness. Since the pre-defined and well-defined sense in my eyes zoom points used in combination with the Fn key (28-35-50 etc.) -> Software Update
- If you work with the viewfinder and for turning off the monitor, the automatic image control does not work anymore -> Software Update
- When you zoom in the image control to control the sharpness, rotating the thumbwheel not like Nikon DSLRs usual, a jump to the next image, which makes the sharpness comparing two images impossible and transferred to the computer, which costs time, nerves and space -> SW update
- The second thumbwheel is below at least on my Nikon a design flaw, I can not turn the wheel without pressing it at the same time (EDIT: With a little practice but ok)
- Previously addressed shortly and for me almost Totargument for P7000: the autofocus. I always use the central auto focus area, never automatic, because they too often focus incorrectly, not only in the P7000, but for all I know cameras. In this constellation, the P7000 at all times in good light only gets a focus, even as I have about 10% of waste. Once it is dark (eg in still reasonably bright rooms), the Committee goes to 100%, even if one very takes care to get as much contrast in the measurement field. Because it does not matter what size you've chosen for the field and whether the autofocus auxiliary light on or off.
- The intensity is indeed for a compact camera is not bad, but I would have wished but a a stop faster maximum aperture at wide angle due to the size of the sensor. I refer here to the Canon S95, which has an initial aperture of 2. The aperture at the telephoto end, however, is typical and sufficient in my eyes.
- All in all less gimmicks and more useful, not so much pretty animated, but Functional. The software is designed for showmanship, all the additional features are nice, but unnecessary and complicate the camera. Example: RAW conversion in the camera? Why in God's name? If you shoot RAW, developed later on the computer. Like I said, nice but not necessary. Tilt-shift effect: works in my view inadequate and is not adjustable, and I agree with the computer preference.
- Camera can crash, partially so drastically that you have to remove the battery. This is typical of software in alpha version, but not for devices that are sold as finished.
Conclusion
A nice camera, good workmanship and small enough for a compact with very nice results.
Good to use as little vacation camera when the sun is shining.
Not to use as a party or AL-camera since catapulted the AF Nikon wide.
If Nikon nachbessert software side, is out of a dream P7000 camera, but as with all my other Nikons, which will probably take a long time and inadequately carried out (such as the white balance of the D700).
Spare me now even the mails to Nikon because they only deny the mistake and after some time then put out updates that will fix these nonexistenten error according to the description after all.
EDIT:
As mentioned in the comments, I've now tested the other auto focus and have to say that the portrait and the automatic focus function quite well. Accordingly, "only" the middle and manual Autofocus really bad. Apparently arise the widely varying opinions on autofocus.
And yet the white balance ': The white balance produced when the sun is on skin a clear magenta cast, so he should be revised completely in my eyes.
