Two points to get you started:
- I have received this smartphone as a free review copy.
- 3 stars stand at Amazon for "not bad". I add the add: Yes, you get a fair return for their money.
I tested the blade L2 now over 2 weeks. I actually own a Samsung Galaxy S5 and am also happy to switch back to this unit, but these two devices are already not comparable due to their price. I have tested several inexpensive smartphones in recent times and therefore draw more comparisons to the aforementioned Hisense and also for Motorola Moto E.
Externals
Packt is the Blade of L2, initially falls on the elegant exterior of smartphones. Although the housing is entirely made of plastic, it works reasonably dibasic. Unfortunately, even the screen of plastic; scratch resistant glass is allowed in this price range (at least for a 5-inch device, because the smaller Moto E has Gorilla Glass) is not expected.
Schick looks absolutely tiny and the charger. It has just the dimensions of a euro plug; amazing how small you can build such a thing today! Unfortunately, the power of the charger is a little narrow: It has just 700 mA - for comparison: The charger of the Samsung S5 has 2 amps. Consequently, the full loading of LTE will also take no less than 5 hours.
Screen
After the first start I was horrified: My God, the screen is dark. So I am left only once in the settings and have asked the brightness to automatic, as I almost always handle it. Another shock: The display was still dark! The automatic brightness control is configured so much too dark. But the backlight does have reserves. So I waive the automatic and manually select an appropriate brightness.
The colors of ZTE are unfortunately creepy! In this respect, reminds me the display of the maximum color depth of 256 colors very old graphics cards. This is perhaps an exaggeration, but a lot more than 32,000 colors should not the ZTE show simultaneously. In any case, the colors are totally unnatural and often exaggerated. Gradients are stepped. Ever's also the resolution with only 480 x 854 pixels is not exactly abundant. As you can clearly recognize the individual pixels already.
Here it is on the display even in small sunlight hardly what to recognize. After removing the factory-applied film, it was a little better, but the fact remains: To read new mails or SMS you have to find a shady spot.
Accumulator
Although the back of the ZTE can be removed (to insert the SIM and memory card), you can not change the battery. The now account for almost all manufacturers so, but in this case it is pure harassment and not explained by stability or design, because you can see the battery in front of him, the power is, however, soldered, glued the battery itself.
The battery lasts at least moderate use almost 2 days by. I think that's quite remarkable!
Art / performance
I have not made any benchmark test. But it shows so fast that you do not have high-end device on here. Even when scrolling through menus in Web pages or jerky significantly. Games in the style of quiz duel or Doodle Jump, you can play well, The Room or Need for Speed - Most Wanted but not fun.
The camera is okay with their 5 megapixels. There is even a panorama function and an auxiliary light.
The wireless reception is good, but limited to the 2.4 GHz band. LTE and NFC one may of course not be expected, but the UMTS reception is again very good! Good is also the voice quality when making calls. The volume of the handset is okay, the speaker should like to have a bit more power. The supplied headset looks chic and enough to make phone calls. For proper musical enjoyment but you should resort to something better.
The ZTE allows operation with two mini SIM cards. Who previously had a device that required a micro-SIM will be pleased with the two included adapters. As a manufacturer has thought along time.
The operating system is a halfway updates Android 4.2.2, which has, thank God, hardly experienced manufacturer-specific adjustments. Only the installed keyboard "TouchPal" I was already known as the Hisense illogical and flawed. I recommend replacing it with the free and swipefähige Google keyboard.
Conclusion
You get here an inexpensive entry-level smartphone, which provides quite an acceptable equivalent. What you'd expect from a smartphone, it does soundly. Given the price you have to make cuts, which makes itself felt here in particular in the quality of the screen. The Motorola Moto E you get for example at the same price a better, more robust display, which is also significantly smaller. Also missing there charger, headset, flash and front camera. It is, as so often, a matter of taste. If you want to but at this price have a 5-inch smartphone, will not find many alternatives to Blade L2.
