This eiderdown of Pinzon is specified with a thermal resistance of 9 TOG.
When TOG-classification is an English industry standard that measures the degree of heat and the heat storing a duvet. The importance of TOG values can be translated as follows:
4.5 TOG = Sommerdecke
9-10.5 TOG = transitional ceiling
13 TOG = autumn and winter blanket
15 TOG = Very warm winter blanket
According mean 9 TOG that it is more likely in this blanket of heat storage forth a transitional blanket for spring and autumn, and not as stated in the product description to a winter blanket.
This also coincides with my personal perception, for the current spring temperatures this blanket is perfect for me, in the winter I would therefore undoubtedly freeze.
The second mistake in the product description is in the ratio of down to feathers. According to product specification, the ceiling is 90% duck feather and only 10% from duck down. This would then no duvet, but a duvet.
The label on the ceiling itself however is that the ceiling is 90% duck down and 10% duck feather. Correspondingly, the designation eiderdown is correct since:
100% down content = Pure eiderdown
90% down 10% feather down comforter = (like here at this Pinzon ceiling)
50% down 50% feather = feathery duvet
30% down 70% feather = three-quarters down comforter
15% down 85% feather = half down
Under 15% down duvet =
The higher the percentage of down, the lighter is the ceiling in relation to their thermal output, as down aufbauschen better hold heat longer than springs and accordingly.
You can tell when this ceiling significantly high percentage of down, the ceiling is nice and light and bags this wonderful on.
The ceiling can be at 60% in a washing machine to wash, and then tumble dry.
The quilt was made in China and there are no instructions of the manufacturer of the source of down / feather. In China it is unfortunately sad tradition, animals plucking alive, so it must be even with this duvet assume that this is to "live plucking" and the animal cruelty associated.
However, there is generally down for no independent certification with monitoring, sanctions or fines possibilities, though actually the live plucking is banned in the EU. For the competent authority (European Food Safety Authority) has left the loophole of the judder during moulting of birds to the poultry industry.
One can therefore generally impossible to know when buying down products, whether the animals were plucked alive, the probability of a product from China is of course considerably increased.
The only way to really prevent this suffering, it is currently, therefore, to resort to animal-friendly materials (synthetic fabrics such as PrimaLoft, Thinsulate or Thermolite or wool).
CONCLUSION:
An easy transition ceiling, not really suitable for winter, made in China, so the down is most likely from "live plucking" won.
For reasons of animal welfare in my eyes not recommended.
