Basis for comparison:
1x Pentax original battery (1860mAh / 14Wh, 2 years old) - 55 euro / piece
1x Patona battery (1400mAh / 10,4Wh, new) ca. 14,50 Euro / piece
2x VHBW batteries (1300mAh / 9.4Wh, new) - about 9.50 Euro / piece
Fit:
Is nothing to complain about. The Patona battery fits inside Pentax charger and is loaded as usual. Also in the camera and the battery grip of the K-5 no problems. Battery is easily recognized.
Feel:
Everything OK. Looks minimally different than the original. But is largely only on the stickers. The Patona looks a little bit like in the original building design.
Power:
The most exciting point, sure.
On the cruise in 2014 allowed the Patona to prove
- Photos in JPG & RAW
- Live View
- Assess the image via monitor
- A lot of video footage (with Live View)
Result: About 400 photos and 10 videos around a 5min. and the battery is still displayed on the camera with FULL. I then started the next day directly to the next battery to avoid having to go on the road. Because I can, especially with the price of less than 10 Euro / piece absolutely no complaints and recommend it gladly.
The above Patona battery is in the middle between the Pentax and the aforementioned VHBW battery.
Note: The batteries are currently still new. I'll be watching how they show up after a year and then supplement. Since then separates you know, the wheat from the chaff. Although one must not lose sight of the difference in price to the original D-Li90 battery.
Currently I would, purely technically feeling, rather the Patona buy more than the VHBW. However, this is currently a purely theoretical since I'm fitted with 4 batteries once more than adequate.
