Basically I am or was convinced by the concept of the iPod nano, unless you let those absolutely redundant hardware defect aside. The processing of 6G and 7G is almost unrivaled - comparable players, specifically I had a Sony Walkman in the hands, do not act nearly as solid - they are more like a cheap tactile toys.
Sure there may be MP3 players that offer a better value for money - ultimately, the iPod nano for about 140, - Euros also not much.
But to what he can - and that is to play in my case only music - it meets quite well; Also, I'm still a fan of synchronizing with iTunes, simply because it works without any ifs and buts.
The 7G is, if one compares only the actual devices to each other, only slightly narrower and shallower than his older brother 6G. In the latter, however, a retaining clip is integrated, which can of course appear thicker the device. By the longer display and one of two additional buttons (as compared to 6G) of the new iPod nano including a whole longer. On the one hand, this is undoubtedly a benefit for the display of screen contents, as it here now less "penetrated" approaching as yet at 6G.
Secondly, these Aufmaßung is necessary because - frankly - the unit would otherwise be inoperable in my eyes / hands!
I have medium-sized hands - one-handed operation of the MP3 player is similar to the 6G, a challenge, because the device if its low volume then literally travels through my hand. Therefore, please Apple: it's beautiful and fascinating, what is technically feasible - but the ergonomics is the increasingly compact and low-profile design is not necessarily relevant. : - /
During the next 6G ever a "sound" - and "Quiet" button another button to activate / deactivate the device / display or to start and stop the music playback is available only, and everything only on the (small) touchscreen more control is, Apple equipped the 7G now a separate start / stop button, which is located between the volume buttons, and a "back" button below the touch screen, which performs every function level directly to the main menu. The remaining on top of the device key is used only to turn on and off the screen or player.
The public-Leise-start / stop combination on the device side is positively enclosed in the housing. It therefore falls not so easy, zuszulösen the desired function immediately blind. I also can confirm what has been reported elsewhere: even though I'm right-handed, the operation of the 7G with links is easier for me because I have then are my thumb right on the side key combination while the other way around ... somehow does not fit with your fingers. As I said ... small Apple should not build its future devices.
The functional scope of 6G and 7G is almost equal - only in the settings Apple has removed in the new edition. The "Customizing", if you will, was more nuanced possible at 6G, for example through more wallpapers, more dials (affects the clock display on the display) or the option to customize its home screen to your own needs. Perhaps a firmware update like this sometime from ...?! For the 7G now has Bluetooth 4.0, thereby correspondingly deliberate accessories (headphones, speakers, RF chest straps for the fitness function -> is in the menu "iPod Sport Kit" !?) can connect wirelessly.
The highly acclaimed apple earbuds make a quite acceptable sound, but do not really fit in my ears or losing there for a short time their optimum grip. It seems to me as though Apple with these plugs establish a form between InEars and EarBuds. Hi-Fi sound I want the apple earbuds but certainly not attest. When even one iota with High Fidelity explores, in particular the construction of loudspeakers, you will need to realize that plugs worth sure can not meet "a few euros fifty" these criteria. ^^
Especially since it with compressed and therefore lossy formats such as MP3 or AAC if you will, in any case "problematic" is ... but oh well. At a time when "Beats by Dr. Dre" technique is more popular than ever, you need not argue about it probably. ^^
To Akkulaufzei I can not yet say much usable, since I have not yet exhausted him. As already indicated, I see myself more as a moderate user. ;)
Of course, I was able to compare the jacks of 6G and 7G not save - these seem to be identical. So I hope my new iPod nano is after about 725 days not also for monophonic crutch ...

One star deduction (four to three), because of defect of the Nano 6G described in my review are also set here. The rotating x-arbitrary plug in the socket ensures partial loss of contact, what the iPod - smart as he is - interpreted as accidental pulling the plug and thus pauses playback. After a short correction playback is possible without any problems so far; the stereo quality is therefore not lost. In my view, however, it is a matter of time before the competent contact here is so far abgenudelt until there did nothing more goes. : - /
The problem is that rotation of the jack plug at angle plugs is almost unavoidable. Also just, but perhaps a little thicker plugs provide sufficient contact surface to sporadically slipping during operation or when carried in a pocket around the longitudinal axis. A branded product in this price range should have here no vulnerability, let alone a few months less intensive use!
Should Apple this connection explicitly designed for its apple earbuds have supplied (the connector protrudes on the housing not shown - unlike almost all connections OTHER manufacturers), this would of course fit well into the "Apple concept" - but for me it is increasingly clear that the next player will adorn not bitten apple. : - /
Too bad!
