Our hidden faces (Paperback)

Customer Review

Our hidden faces is more than overwhelming and exciting novel, for me it was love at heart who rocked me between laughter and crying and I want to share with you today.
Throughout the pages, we follow here the compelling story of young men who, after the events of September 11, commit a little too fast in the US Army to be a soldier and serve their country. An accident, however, will change their lives and that of their friends. We then accompanied the young Ambrose Young in its reconstruction, but Fern and Bailey, two cousins whose trials of life have given exceptional friendship and very touching.

First, my heart stroke has proved particularly for writing the author that I literally worshiped. Often in the Young Adult edition, I found a simple, lightweight script, which it fully prepared. Yet here it was not. Amy Harmon holds indeed a very poetic and very sought pen ideally suited to the hardness of the story. I appreciated that the author introduces Shakespeare to many recovery including Hamlet, is another author that I have not had the opportunity to experience before and it was a pleasant surprise. The pen Amy Harmon me so much that I looked forward to the translation of his other works.

As for the story itself, she seduced me from beginning to end, as all the characters are discovered. Like many, Ambrose Young is one I preferred, her story made me very emotional. I had read very little of novel addressing the events of September 11. Ambrose is a young man of 18 who, after the attacks, decides too quickly and for vague reasons to commit to be a soldier with his best friends. On his return, his life is nothing like the one he left behind. For painful reasons, he must learn to rebuild. We find a strong character who faces himself more than others. His story is particularly touching and Ambrose is revealed little by little, to others, like himself.
At the sides, the young man can count on Fern, a young redhead cradled by the stories rose water has always fed by Ambrose which she is madly in love. The love story of this novel I liked because it meets two diametrically opposed characters. I was snatched from beginning to end, and I was thrilled for them at the end of my reading. I appreciated that there is no passing "too cute", which would offset too with the dark side of history. It is a refreshing love, and this side seduces me most of the time when the characters remain strong.
Fern is also very touching in its way, a character with great realism, a young girl in her bad skin who forgets to others for his friend Bailey, his cousin, with whom she nurtures friendship and unfailing shattering. The latter is essential here, for his humor and self-mockery that brings joy to the novel.

Finally, the novel delivers a true message of tolerance towards others and towards yourself, and hope to have the chance to read again a work like this.
