The soundtrack to the film Against All Odds in 1984 is in my opinion quite interesting because some rarities. The soundtrack is divided into 6 songs and the instrumental score by Larry Carlton. The latter does not interest me and is perhaps only in conjunction with knowledge of the film interesting. Among the film songs of the title song by Phil Collins is probably the most famous piece. That's the only ballad that I can stand by Phil Collins for me. But there are still a few songs by other prominent artists of this period: First there is Stevie Nicks with the song Violet And Blue, a typical mid-tempo rocker in Heartbreakers style which would also fit well on her first two solo albums. Meanwhile, the song can also be found on the Enchanted boxset of Stevie Nicks. By Peter Gabriel, there is the song Walk Through The Fire, which is the largest selling point for this soundtrack was for me and appeared as a single well in some countries. Musically (many percussions and keyboards) have the pieces fit well on his third or fourth album. From the former Genesis colleagues Mike Rutherford there are (also found on the B-side of Peter Gabriel Walk Through The Fire) Making A Big Mistake, which anticipates much of his later project Mike & The Mechanics. My Male Curiosity with its Latin and jazz influences of Kid Creole and the Coconuts is a very typical song for this band, which would also fit well to Matt Bianco and The Style Council. A bit disappointing I find, however Balcony of Big Country, the music take off here with reggae and new wave of their sound. A very sloped piece. The biggest rarity is probably the Peter Gabriel song, the announcement -soweit me nowhere else is available on CD. All other songs are now also appeared on other CDs of the respective artists. The instrumental score by Larry Carlton is without the film difficult to enjoy.
Conclusion: After all, the soundtrack offers 5 good songs, including the rarity of Peter Gabriel. A BUY recommendation is this soundtrack but only if you're a fan of the film or specifically looking for these songs and to acquire this CD favorable.
