I'm not disappointed and I have not lost as (after setting), but I removed one star because still in 2014, we expected better (I have a Logitech webcam that has 3 PC years is much better).
For the price, so I would recommend this product, but check the cost of different packages: the camera was cheaper in pack of 2 in 3 pack.
Most:
- The installation wizard is done well and makes the operation extremely simple (when it works), but you must download the latest version online, especially if you are using Windows 8.1 [...]
- The setting is simple: no hack on the box, no interference with the home network
- The concept of "cloud" D-Link enables a set of connected products with a common VPN technology. It is not necessary to go through the DynDNS for remote access.
- WPS works for setting the wireless IF YOU HAVE THE WPS BUTTON ON THE BOX, otherwise use the manual setting
- No loss of speed on the house when you do not connect the cameras, they do not use the network
- Regular updates of the software (firmware android app ...), while this is out there 2 years ...
- Mobile applications are well made and offer the useful minimum (monitoring, photos, sensing on / off, put firmware update). The DLink + application works better than DLink Lite brings the detection area selection and sensitivity adjustment.
- Advanced settings of the cameras is very complete, it is for example possible to turn off the status LEDs, improving the image quality (640 instead of 320), using a ftp, manage the infrared slots or exclude the image area for detection (eg where is the answering machine ...) BUT SHOULD USE CHROME (see below)
- Detection of planning offers a time range for each day: with DLink + Smartphone you can always activate the detection or time range
- I appreciate the warning by email with 6 photos (3 front and 3 after detection)
- The image is of acceptable quality, including at night (but we do not see more than 4m)
- Kept secure by password and web portals are HTTPS
- Support for UPnP is very good which avoids tweak the firewall of the box (it is also switched off if you are a pro of the network)
- The production is very good, the cameras are compact, and swivel mounting bracket is very well done.
Cons:
- Automatic management of day / night mode is reviewing: when dark hesitate camera constantly switching and makes noise (relay): select night to be quiet (but = image in black and white ...)
- It is impossible to enable detection on all cameras at once.
- It is impossible to record a video, just images.
- Java and ActiveX will not work on your tablet and phone, so it is complex to access the parameters of the cameras without a PC
- The safety certificate has an error for the https, Firefox and Chrome browsers are very discouraging when you have to connect to the camera.
- The camera angle of view is small (which is common with low definition camera), I would say to 5m 4m wide.
- Behind glass, IR does not work (we see the reflection in the glass diodes) it seems that the DCS-942L corrects problem? I see ... I bought DCS-930L without IR and I fixed halogen projector with detector outside ...
- IR LEDs are visible in the dark (4 red LEDs)
- The 1.5m cable is too short to put the camera in the ceiling without having the transformer in the middle of the wall ...
- I often disconnects, probably related to wifi. There is a version including a wifi extender (DCS-933L) I would perhaps buy it ...
Pipes for installation:
- It is imperative to install java 1.7.51 at least to be quiet and add the IP addresses of the cameras in the white list of Java (Control Panel / Programs / Java)
- If you have a box Orange, you may need to change the filtering level of security for remote access works ("average").
- D-Link uses ActiveX and Java applets to access the camera. The browser was Chrome worked best (I am user of Firefox, but as there was a fault on the https security certificate, Java is disabled. Pass in http for it to work). Internet Explorer (ActiveX) plant.
- You find poor quality? it is possible to pass the resolution to 640x480 using advanced access to the camera (that is 320x240 by default). But make sure that the wifi signal is sufficient if it does not work (it should then bring the camera to change the setting). To remove flickering, select the network at 50Hz.
- Remember to enable UPnP on the box to simplify the configuration of the remote access if you start to change the port numbers.
- Attention, there are small bugs in the web interface (parameters not stored, crushed unwanted Advanced Settings: I wanted to use a different email address as sender and recipient, it is possible only advanced)
- I tried wide angle lens magnetizable sold for phones and compact digital camera to change the focal length of the camera, but the IR LEDs are hidden. So I bought the DCS-930L.
Note: the firmware is updated regularly (4 times in 6 months), the operation of the camera only grow, which is very reassuring.
It is possible to have the firmware release note (see support section open to the public)
You will see that there has been a strengthening of security (long passwords, https ...)
