The reasonable man could ask why a function is "Eco Mode" is actually necessary. Finally, Mac OS X provides a way for a long time hard drives that are not in use, turn off automatically
[System Settings / save power / sleep when possible the hard drives (s) Enable].
Since time immemorial it works perfectly, it would thus have no need for action existed. Strange also that the fact that the Eco Mode is not compatible with Mac OS X, is Lacie not noticed earlier. Only threads Angry Lacie customer in Apple Support Center, on MacRumors and elsewhere, Lacie motivated to address the problem. That's ignorant and fatally recalls the handling of the power supply's well-known problems: some verreckten soon, but quietly, other unexploded happy times, recalls found Lacie any case unnecessary.
As usual, there are also in this version of Lacie D2 their housing again a new power supply, that of course, as always with Lacie, to all predecessors is incompatible. In Gravis was offered for example - before the Lacie hard drives from the Prpgramm flew - because of the incredible number of defects a storage of Lacie power supplies. I run currently ten D2 Quadra housing (link to photo evidence: [...] - to think no one here that would be viral marketing or empty talk), in five of them had to be replaced within two years power supplies. If you count the optical drives in D2 enclosures, there are 13 housing Lacie, six defective power supplies, two out of three optical drives were defective within two years.
Now there Lacie currently a three year guarantee on this device. It has apparently recognized the quality problems.
Why do I buy these things actually repeatedly, you might well ask. Because of their quality certainly not, but the complete connections, particularly two FireWire 800, there are both 19 "Rackmount Kits, as well as practical racks for the desk and quickly, the plates also.
After all the trouble that's enough for at least a further purchase and three stars.
