Severin AT 2509 Automatic Toaster (Household Goods)

Customer Review

Every now and then you stumble times about a product, which is experiencing a true evaluation hype. When it then buys himself, comes the disillusionment of the high expectations.
Although Severin is the cheap brand that stood on the shelves for years at Aldi, but what the hell I thought - when so many setpoints the product so positively not put me off the times.

But to illustrative, as it comes to my vote, I would like to better understand enumerate each category:

Security against fire exposure:
Thus small children carry with the handle on the toaster is not equal blisters have a good insulation material. This makes the AT 2509 in my opinion, excellent. During normal operation, the entire outer surface (silver) remains below about 40 ° Celsius. Even the black border which the device from the top cover is very well insulated. While it is a bit warmer, but still produced after one use any burn injury if you touch it.
Even if the toaster on the longest stage repeatedly pushing down (should one before the first start make) is only the top third of the silver outer surface of the 50 ° Celsius. When the but does not hold it forever, even then there is no danger. So overall very positive, in contrast to my previous airline model, what is no longer allowed to touch from the outside.
Part Rating: good

Cable length:
I find this quite important, because who would ever tamper with the short cable with an extension cable. Now I have this machine, although not found any indication of the cable length, but believed that one for 40, - can spendieren a few centimeters longer cable. Unfortunately, a miscalculation, as I discovered. The cable is about 70cm long. That's not enough time right out to plug the cable into the connector strip of an extension plug without this dangles in the air and pulls on the cable. Because the table heights are usually just over 60cm. Now, if the device is not directly at the edge that's a problem.
Conclusion: skimped in the wrong place - part Note: unsatisfactory

Save Energy:
Well, if you will buy a 4 slot toaster you want bentutzen him. But often you then want to circuit only have 2 slices - or else sit from the outset less people at the table. Here I was hoping that you can separate the two carriages into operation from each other, so that only one half is put into operation. This would have saved half as much energy. Unfortunately haber not an option with this device.

Browning:
A toaster should toast and thus probably the most important criterion par excellence. But here I am very disappointed. It is significantly hotter than the back edge toward the center. The effect is obvious with a double sledge perhaps even more so than in a carriage for just a toast. In any case, it is so that at medium setting (between 3 and 4) the disks to the head and foot toward always are totally white, while the edge has been black traces of combustion towards the center.
Here would be even a proposal for "Wettten that ...". Can reference to the slices of toast detect which toaster is. Yes even as the wheel located in the toaster - hähähähä. On the one hand knows burned at the other edge - indicates a Severin.
But fun times aside, so funny I find not that. The result is thus even worse than that of my cheap, old predecessor model.
This Pre Said I need now after 1 week relativize intensive use. Meanwhile namely consistently evaluate as well the tanning result. All sides now have a uniform golden-brown crust. The problem with the burned edges towards the center of the instrument has gone through. I can only speculate about the cause of this initial but catastrophic results. Possibly the device needs some kind of run-in phase to the heating filaments all alike. So Anyway, who should have problems with the device at the beginning, which can definitely still have reason to hope that this problem resolves itself within about 1 hour use in pleasure.

Ease of use:
Have the device only a few days, so the aspect of wear hardly come to light. Still, I would describe the operation as well. The buttons on the side are extensive and clear to use. The grill rack to aufzubacken rolls can be actuated very nice touch of a button as well. The often kicked out the windows from a machine and remain on top of the unit, contributes more in the amusement. Sometimes the discs fly out even and land on the floor - why this must be so is a well-explained only the developers.
Nice features are still the "thawing" and buttons "Aufwäremen" but probably likely to play only a subordinate role. Visible these great snaps at the side.

Cleaning:
A Krümelschublabe that you can pull out and then can easily be emptied is very convenient. Sorry to see that land strip to the outside very effectively prevented in two carriages that all crumbs fall into the pocket provided. Thus "questions and shake upside down" no relief and the well-known one is still not spared. I submit that is simply designed little attention and could have otherwise be solved.

Conclusion and Appreciation:
Well, with a 4 pieces of toast you can get rid of quite something if it is to go fast times. The seemingly solid construction and good insulation thus justify the price. Toast result after some initial difficulties now but of quite good quality. A longer cable, a meaningful constructive design of the crumb compartment and a separate operation of the two carriages would wüschenswert.
Overall, decent product but I believe also some deficits, thus the total score: "You get what you pay for."
Would it "now" (after the right tan has set) but again a friend - albeit but with restrictions.
