- Engine 64-bit derivative of Sony Vegas Pro, running on a PC that carbide much faster than the 32-bit solutions that alone is worth the purchase v12
- Acceleration GPU (graphics card) renderings, everything shows real-time provided they have a compatible graphics card (GTX 670 at my list on the publisher's website)
- Despite an apparent thinning compared to Vegas Pro, the Movie Studio Platinum offers all the essential functions for editing videos, you could almost do with professional achievements
- An image stabilization effect leads us to believe that filming in steadicam :), just excellent!
- Some background music, a lot of effects and transition, Sonic Foundry basic for the work and its advanced Titler make it a very complete suite to finally not so expensive it
- The license allows you to install Sony more on multiple PCs (fixed and portable computer, for example), but only one license must be used at a time, the activation is done online
- Stable software in months under Win 7 x64, one crash since the beginning, and update available for download
- Taking easy handling in all, I am operating after 2 hours of plaything and who have not yet opened the manual, otherwise full of tutorials are available on Youtube
- Some easy shortcuts such as rendering and the loading for Youtube
Disappointments:
- A table comparing the different versions reminds that almost has a Vegas Pro hands, but some functions are not part of Movie Studio Platinum, including multicam function to easily edit shots made synchronous with multiple cameras. You can get around this gap by using other techniques as well can work on up to 20 video tracks simultaneously, but it is more laborious
- Same for the filters (color correction, contrast etc.), all functions are present but require several modules chain and therefore more work and less clarity
- Sound Forge Audio Studio should be the freeware so it is basic, go for a ride on the free / shareware or Reaper style Audacity for editing sound, they are most successful, however, if you need it
- Non-commercial licenses for all if Youtube pays you this solution is not for you! Too bad this is not clearer on the publisher's website.
In short I appreciate how to work Movie Studio Platinum, the apparent effortless with the 64-bit architecture and GPU laccélération, but I use three cameras to record my videos and lack of multicam function and the risk of being illegally by charging Youtube salaries make me lean toward a pro solution, Premiere or Vegas, I have not decided yet, and unfortunately it's not at all the same budget.
