After intensive Web research, I have decided on the Armytek Wizard. From my perspective, the lamp delivers unrivaled good price / performance ratio. With regard to light intensity and light duration does not differ from the more expensive "pro" version, only has less luminous gradations and no strobe modes.
Overall, the lamp offers 5 levels. 3 Normal modes, a weak mode with extremely long burn time and a boost mode. Running I have operated the lamp yesterday in most normal mode. In short, the illumination is a dream. Broad illumination, can be seen not only its running track but the entire field of view into the corner of the eye is illuminated. The lamp, like all LED lamps a hot spot in the middle. However, the transition in the edge regions of the illumination is so soft that the hotspot is not recognizable as such. This warm in combination with the light color gives a very pleasant impression and is not comparable to the highly focused, cold bluish light of other LEDs. Light color corresponds almost entirely to the quality halogen lamps.
With regard to intensity of the strongest normal mode is similar to the low beam of a car.
The boost mode which I have used in the forest yesterday is so bright that illuminate for example a white wall in the night hidden ...
With ~ 100g the lamp interfere while running also from longer distances at all.
Very handy, I feel that the power supply through commercially available batteries 18650 occurs. The exchange proceeds in a few seconds. Since these batteries are very light so you can easy take several hours of light in your pocket and does not rely that need to be recharged after each use for any battery packs. The light indicates that the battery voltage decreases one by three short flashes and adjusts the brightness in connection down ... so you is not suddenly in the dark and has plenty of time to look for a lighter clearing a street lamp or the like for the battery change.
Overall, it must be noted ... I am excited about the lamp. Perceived quality and workmanship is first class ... the 10m water resistance is ensured passes through a double O-ring seal which corresponds in the execution of my dive light ...
Potential for improvement:
- Mounting the elastic bands for the head mount is a bit fiddly. Pre-assembly would be great ... but is done in 5min (that includes repeated threading wrong with a since one has ignored the instructions wiedermal ;-))
- The color of the bands corresponding to the figure ... plain black without lettering I would find beautiful ...
