Well, anyway, I decided a few days ago, about 9 months after the release, time to play the game "properly". And now I want to write a realistic and fair review to which I, however, want to take only short and sweet in bullet points.
+ Absolutely realistic driving physics
+ Great vehicle choices - from jeep to the Formula 1
+ Top-graphics on HD TVs
+ Long game
+ Interesting B-spec mode
+ NASCAR, rally and karting provide variety
+ Top soundscape
+ Photo mode for beautiful photos
+ Racing suits and helmets in different colors and designs
o mostly Japanese cars
o Photo venues almost exclusively in Europe
o mediocre graphics on SD TVs (worse than, for example, NFS: Shift 2 or even NFS: Hot Pursuit)
o challenging Difficulty
o boring, but existing track editor (no Gesteltungsmöglichkeiten like in Trackmania)
- Unrealistic "flight" physics (no, there is no aircraft, but if a car takes off times or builds an accident ...)
- Inadequate to inadequate damage model (rather then none at all!)
- Meager selection of distances - less than in GT4, not Seoul, no Hong Kong, not New York, not Paris, not Tahiti ...
- Less vehicle design options than in GT4 (wheels, aprons and Carbon hoods only in premium cars)
- Only premium cars can be tuned visually Photo Locations or have Interior
On the whole, therefore, not exactly brilliant, but I forgive this 4 stars because the game despite all the flaws really fun and very long spear made fun offers.
Most of all I would really want a few more lines. In GT5, there are really only the typical original tracks, a few world distances (Nurburgring, Fuji, Tsukuba, Suzuka, Daytona, Indianapolis, Laguna Seca, Monza, etc.), a few street circuits (Tokyo, Rome, Madrid, London, etc.) and a few routes for off-road activities, such as the French Alps, Tuscany or Alaska.
(!): Even in Need for Speed Shift 2 there were many more routes (eg Dubai, Shanghai, Hockenheim, Road America, Miami, Enna Pergusa etc. Even distances in the Netherlands, Czech Republic, etc. are; and almost all are even passable at night.)
In GT5, there are just 2 or 3 night routes impassable by day are in turn ... So, 5 years had the boys and girls of Sony ... time because they had at least the GT3 and GT4 update routes and can reinnehmen with and a few more European cars. Clearly there is a Japanese game and love their own cars rather than ours, but please;) 10 different Toyota Yaris, but only a BMW 1 Series? We Europeans come what race tracks and cars are concerned, probably really a little short - which is also true for the Americans and even Japan's neighbor from Korea. The have only 2 or 3 Hyundai ingame: P
Well, perhaps part 6 then yes something cooler. ;)
