If the driver 'wd its usb device device "is not found,
Windows 7: go to Control Panel \ System and Security \ System \ Device Manager: Click the yellow triangle displayed WD, and then do a search for drivers choosing the WD drive as the path itself (the driver is in!)
WD proposes to install three applications whose functions are not obvious to identify lack of paper documentation (but everything is on the hard drive in PDF format):
- WD Drive Utilities: allows you to delete and perform diagnostics HDD
- WD Security: Sets the security of SD (create a password, or even a data encryption)
- WD SmartWare: backup of all your data. However, SmartWare remains somewhat limited, ultimately impractical and not worth, in my opinion, specialized backup software.
But of course, it n''est not mandatory to install these applications if you still never not have the utility, or if you use a different backup application. In this case the WD function as a lambda external drive.
In total, the WD drive is a fast, lightweight and really compact. It is self powered via the USB connection.
Despite a somewhat tedious start likely related to an updating problem in WD, it is a good product, outside the "suite" software whose interest is not shown.
