Who does not know the problem? It has a hard drive somewhere about, but no useful case at hand. Well, at least many IT learning it is my experience that. I was, because I had about a dozen such hard disks are "stockpiled" in search of an affordable, pretty solid and at the same fast-to-use (= to be filled) case and the reviewed product here have bought a test basis. Should be installed a 500GB Western Digital hard drive the "Scorpio Blue" series in 9.5mm height format, who came from one of my notebooks. Without any instructions can be the installation in about 5 to 6 seconds accomplish. With guidance maybe in 2-3 seconds, I think. One must draw namely only a part of the housing outwards and can then simply insert the appropriate SATA disk and slide into the port. Lid on again. Done. Basically, only it comes to the "Installation time" how fast you the cover and again gets it ;-) With 7mm hard drives will be added as an additional time factor that you scrape the existing foam in the lid and must replace it with an (enclosed) larger foam padding. This is relatively easy to make - but not reversible ... So you have to decide on a height (or as I renounce the "gluing" of the foam and just "put in between" him). Said foam is used for one side of the housing as a "filler" and protection against vibrations - on the other side of the case is the drive on so that it has almost no game. Good solution, I want to say. Speaking of shocks: Mir is the haptics her pretty soft, "velvety" housing fell directly from his hand and kissed edge of a table in my study. A tiny scratch has remained - though barely visible ... most of the scratch was in fact "wipe" or rub. Extremely high quality in optics should not be expected - especially not when the case is taken quite a lot. Even the included cable is a bit short fall in my case - 600mm = 60cm I can not see there. But well - me is a shorter cable eh prefer. For the price you wanted a very good one at that-to-use tools housing. That the housing consists of a plastic (I had not been mentioned, I think) likes to possibly prove in continuous operation as a shortcoming, because the heat dissipation of metal enclosures happens to be much better - but here I will only make statements, if I the housing times the long-term test under full load was (going to one of my "surplus" plates hanging as an external HDD to my Netgear NAS and use for incremental backups). Conclusion: 5 stars. Worth buying.
Important: The much criticized "plastic" and the resulting "heat" problem is also noticed. Continuous operation eg as external disk on a NAS or routers therefore makes no sense. That also corresponds to the price you pay here for this otherwise very good product.
