After here negative reviews will appear increasingly, I would just like to share my experience with the device. I had been a Tmobile Pulse, a Samsung Galaxy S1 and a Google Nexus 4 as smartphones, in addition I still have a Nexus 10 tablet. I am therefore Android users from the very beginning.
I have allowed myself the S5 to 2 1/2 years Nexus 4 here in the flash offerings, because I finally wanted a good camera and a memory card slot / battery change. Furthermore, the symptoms in 2015 (HTC One, Samsung S6) have me at all irritated, especially since I am not willing to spend 700 for a smartphone.
Compared with the Nexus 4 me fall particularly on (positive):
-..) The really excellent battery, I get the thing with my use (UMTS on permanently, background services / Sync Always, WiFi only at home, 30 min tel + constantly Whatssapp) hardly empty and already the first charge held 4.5h DOT , Respect (comparison Nexus 4: at my use max 1:50 DOT at extremely moderate use.)
-) The great display. By contrast, my Nexus acts 10 (which at that time the best tablet display had) just pale and dark. No comparison Nexus. 4
-) The camera: simply useful, replaced my Sony NEX 5 now at least for walks, etc. When Nexus 4: useless, especially since Lollipop nurmehr problems with crash the app, HDR mode did not work, etc.
-) The Feeling: For me, a smartphone is a working tool. The S5 feels super slim, the back I find just brilliant. grabs on super, not slippery, no fingerprints or scratches, and the device is absolutely secure in the hand. Drivers who had a cell phone with glass on the back or aluminum (acquaintances have the iPhone 5, the Nexus 4's rear glass), white determines how annoying is a slippery phone. The Nexus 4 was bearable only with a fairly thick sheet to protect the glass.
-) The additional functions: the most you'll ever need, especially numerous apps by developing Android simply redundant (2 photo apps, 10 PDF Viewer, 2 music apps, etc). But still some are really useful, like to make the ingenious Ultra power saving mode or the possibility equal to a restart.
-) The receipt. Simple really excellent, the best device to date in the category. No comparison with the Nexus. 4
-) Battery exchange: I have the (actually non-replaceable) battery in the Nexus 4 already changed, with the result that the term exactly was equally bad as before. From the warranty and the risk to remain silent, it's just good to know that the device also can be used like the last 2 years. Who wants to use a smartphone longer, sooner or later simply not a battery-change around.
-) Great community, a lot of accessories, just awesome (also the official CyanogenMod support). How long have I been looking for a case for the Nexus 4 in December 2012 ...
Negative aspects so far:
-) I can confirm it. The mobile phone runs overall very smooth, but the Nexus 4 runs in many but round. Va calling the multitasking bar goes faster when Nexus 4 (I also like the Google Launcher installed). Nevertheless, the device does not AppCrashes going very well in itself, so far.
(-) Size: bigger should not be for me the device. We know in advance and therefore not really negative.)
-) No Flashlight Shortcut from the drop-down bar, but 10,000 other functions. Ka. Why is contained even in Stock Android 5, Samsung is not.
-) No Sync from Samsung Apps on Google. Therefore, actually, most Samsung Apps (eg Calendar) same time useless and have been disabled if possible.
-) Unfortunately, only 2GB Ram ... therefore initially wanted the LG G3, but I was too big.
-) Speaker. Would have liked a bit more here to volume.
-) Convince the Home Button / touch buttons below the screen me from the operating concept not as onscreen buttons. These are more accessible and flexible (eg hiking in landscape mode with). Even the fingerprint scanner is a fairly unreliable affair. Unlock With one hand is almost impossible.
Those were times my points at a glance. In summary, I have to just say that I am very satisfied. Years ago, 2 1/2 only Nexus devices were allowed into the house. Since the release of the Nexus 6 (Pure disappointment) I am now back at Samsung. Yes, Nexus is smoother. But when you look at a smartphone as a tool, the S5 is simply wherever there is one, ahead (Tags camera, battery, receiver, removable battery, etc). And who on something new waiting: since about 2012/13 the top devices are so sophisticated that there's nothing more to come (can). Quad-HD? Reiner catch customers. Alu? Just impractical, cold and slippery. X core processors? Irrelevant to the vast majority of apps, because not designed / programmed (Apple is still working with dual cores). 64-bit? Power really only from 4 GB Ram sense. And with regard to the security update: Of course it's cool, always the same for updates to have. But quite often blunder in the first versions, which are then gradually nachgepatcht. These are usually taken into account when the same manufacturer updates. And if Samsung sets the support, there is at the Galaxy phones a great community (even the Samsung S1 is still supported).
Therefore, a recommendation to people who are looking at a mobile phone not only as a status symbol.
