So the very positive test in the motorcycle was 03/10
1.) in Philips testing laboratory
2.) with a Yamaha Fazer freeform headlights
performed. So much for the PROFiTEST ...
I myself have a motorcycle (YZF-R1) with Bi-projection headlights (H7) and when I started my first night ride, I thought there's something broken. Behind and beside me-propelled vehicles on illuminated my own Abblendlichtkegel on the highway. Country road curves were deep dark holes. Also, the high beam seemed to me a bit boring. Then I researched the market and found the XP Moto Philips and ordered me here a couple in H7 version because for this a special motorcycle suitability were named = Vibration resistance and because of the good test results. Now you have to know that in a bi-projection headlamps of light emission is controlled by a diaphragm in the beam path, which is exchanged depending on the switch position for low or high beam. This creates hard light-dark transitions. The illumination of the road will be completed here in passing beam just after 50 on edge and then comes ... nothing ... black. Against this background, it is no surprise then also little that I was disappointed on my next overnight trip with the XP-Moto again. Maybe I reach the luminous area a slightly higher luminance, which but not very affects the sense of sight. A slightly higher light temperature would probably show here more effect. Even when high beam no WOW effect. Already compared between Philips premium at right and Philips XP Moto headlamps provided on the left in the front view no difference, neither in the brightness in the color temperature. No difference on multiple photos in different modes could be determined.
I also still have another bike (FJR1300) with freeform headlights (H4). Here I have built for years OSRAM Night Breaker. The illumination is compared to the original standard bulbs manufacturer (Philips Premium H4) much better. My feeling further, wider and brighter. Nocturnal curves have lost their terror. If there are several motorcycles same type next to each other, seem a bit brighter and whiter with my headlights (in daylight). Unfortunately, already on the packaging that the shelf life is reduced compared to standard bulbs by half, which is also reflected in more frequent changes noticeable (approx 20-25.000km).
Conclusion:
At all times properly adjusted headlights so I come to the conclusion that it depends on the combination of headlights and lamps. If the headlights by design seals off the headlight range, helps no wonder lamps here. Gets such an illuminant the appropriate stage for his brilliant performance in the form of a free-form headlight, it can throw its light under circumstances far beyond the main beam and also provide real WOW effects.
